Was he bribed by the Iranians? Iran says it bribed key Western diplos and pols to get the JCPOA deal.

At any rate, we'll see how eager the Brits and EUroweenies are to defy American sanctions when their companies get hit with fines in the billions for doing business with Iran.

Probably they will submit, they hardly can afford being sanctioned by USA, even if they lose tens of billions of business in Iran taken away from them by China and Russia. They have another worry, wimps as they are, they are afraid that Iran will restart nuclear program on their footsteps.

After Associated Press:

Pompeo explained that his repeated calls for the agency to regain its “swagger” meant that diplomats should act with confidence, knowing that the U.S. cause is just. The event was closed to journalists as Pompeo told staff he wanted his conversations with them to be private but the State Department released excerpts of his prepared remarks.

“Swagger is not arrogance; it is not boastfulness, it is not ego,” Pompeo said, according to the excerpts. “No, swagger is confidence; in one’s self, in one’s ideas. In our case, it is America’s essential rightness. And it is aggressiveness born of the righteous knowledge that our cause is just, special, and built upon America’s core principles.”

“Our task is to preserve our civilization of human dignity, individual liberty, democracy, national sovereignty, and the rule of law, and to challenge anyone seeking to take it down,” he said. “We should be proud and confident in America and her values — we should carry that diplomatic swagger to the ends of the earth; humbly, nobly and with the skill and courage I know you all possess.”

You did not get the subtlety of British politics. He and his party are as pro-American as he you get. He is just fighting a rearguard action against advancing enemies and trying to obfuscate the issue.

Watch again, carefully. Or other clips from UK Parliament.

You see, Europeans were imagining until now that they are equals. Being shown their place as chumps and stooges in pattern of banana republics hurts their egos.

They imagined themselves as equals. And they are rich, prosperous and safe behind the American umbrella.

But they imagine themselves as being the SOURCE of their security, and they are not.

Everything that happens in the world matters to the safety of Europe. THEY are shortsighted and stupid about this, but WE are not. Iranian aggression MEANS terrorism and civil war, and that MEANS refugees pouring into Europe, which in turn MEANS crime and terrorism and the rise of the hard right.

Europeans like to play the peacock and the ostrich. Americans do not have that luxury.

The Europeans simply want to get rich from Iran, and carry out their latent anti-Semitism by not caring about peace concerning Israel.

America under a Muslim, Obama, played along, but we came to our senses and Trump has telescoped "No" all along. The Europeans chose not to listen, and now some of their leaders have taken absurd stances in FAVOR of propping up a Muslim theocracy that exports terror.

Their position is small-minded and really stupid, and we have had to tell them no. Instead of taking the hint, they took the world stage to denounce us.

So we finally had to remind them who's boss.

This is entirely their fault: greed, arrogance and small-mindedness on their part, not ours. We have correctly assessed Iran as the threat that it is, and we're not having any of it.

You know the bosses. Is it really "one percent"? Or less?

But that is part of the point here.

Europe isn't under much threat of a Persian nuke on a ballistic missile. Israel is. And we in America (aka The Great Satan) certainly are.

So the level of threat is not equal at all.

Likewise, the Donbass militias are not as threatening to Paris as they are to Kiev.

It's very easy to be blasé about danger when you know it is someone else who is actually threatened with war.

I grasped that.

It's been that way for decades. In large part, their constant refusal to behave as military allies is why we treat them as weak and helpless women.

This is why the American godfather-like presence looming in the NATO background about the vital strategic importance of Greece was the reason that German bankers and taxpayers, the center of EU economic power, had to take a haircut on their Greek bond holdings and were not permitted to take possession of whole Greek islands, etc. Overall military security is more important than profits for some German capitalists. Somebody had to lose, and it was the German capitalists, even though on paper they had all the power and all the "right". More important considerations prevailed.

In large part, their constant refusal to behave as military allies is why we treat them as weak and helpless women.

In larger part, they are anti-Semitic to the core and need oil, so they strongly prefer Arab interests over the Jewish. If it were up to them, Israel would have been overrun a long time ago.

But America isn't anti-Semitic, and has a strong domestic political interest in Israel - and strong support of Israel inevitably means offending Muslim nations. The Europeans would sell Israel down the river in a moment if they could, to get on better footing with the Arabs. America won't let them.

They're not really allies regarding Israel - they're more like Warsaw Pact satellite states were vis-à-vis the USSR. Dominated and unhappy. Europe would prefer that "that shitty little country" (to quote a European head of state speaking of Israel) simply cease to exist, paving the way for them to have the most lucrative contracts and unthreatened oil supply from the very people who have been so hellbent on destroying Israel. They don't want to be part of the team "on the wall" for Israel's continued existence. They are there because we give them no choice. They have to be allied to us, for our security, and we compel that Israel be part of the collective defense.

The Europeans don't want to stand up to the Arabs: it costs them money and tension and strife. They had to stand up to the Soviets for their own survival, but we were collectively successful in outlasting the USSR. Now the Europeans would like to go back to aggressively pursuing their own profitmaking unfettered by concerns of shitty little places filled with Jews.

Note, please, that they will break another European state - Serbia - over the oppression of Muslims in Kosovo. They care about Muslims, because that is rewarded. But they dislike Jews pretty deeply, and don't want to endure stress and strain defending them.
