You do read about possible testicular torsion injuries. One ball player had so much problem they had to remove a testicle. Another had a testicle swell up a few hours after being hit to the size of a grapefruit, making them afraid he would lose that one but they managed to save it. Anyway, that's what was in that article I posted a link to above.
The players don't like to wear cups because they're less comfortable and they claim it can inhibit their natural range of motion during intense play. I can see their point but maybe that's just an argument for better cup designs. These guys aren't poor, they could afford custom cup sizes to fit them better.

Well, a penis fracture is probably worse than a testicle blow. Although it is doubtful these guys had an erection unless they REALLY like playing baseball.
