Title: We filed a complaint about Trump’s ethics

Our watchdog group filed a complaint with the Department of Justice and the Office of Government Ethics on Thursday, asking officials to investigate whether Giuliani’s disclosures show that Trump violated federal ethics laws or laws against making false statements. The Ethics in Government Act requires filers of public financial disclosure forms, including the president, to disclose any liabilities worth more than $10,000. Giuliani repeatedly acknowledged on Wednesday and Thursday that Trump owed Cohen $250,000, accounting for the $130,000 payment to Daniels and associated taxes and fees. But Trump’s public financial disclosure report last summer didn’t list any debts to Cohen. A knowing failure to report such a debt constitutes a federal crime, and failure to properly report that liability can result in penalties up to $50,000, as well as imprisonment. Moreover, lying on a financial disclosure report can be the basis for federal false statements charges under 18 USC 1001.

...thanks to Giuliani’s catastrophic performance, yet another fresh start for Trump’s legal team has been squandered. The president and his attorneys are running empty on credibility. Replenishing it becomes impossible at some point after repeated miscues. If prosecutors, judges and even the American people no longer believe what Trump and his lawyers say is true, they will assume the worst. Contrasted with the methodical and straightforward approach of the Department of Justice, this is beginning to feel like a war that the president is not going to win.

Trump pays a $35,000 monthly retainer to his attorney to be used for whatever. That money comes from him, not his campaign.

to be used for whatever.

According to Rudy-Patootie and SS45, the "retainer" was used to repay the hush money to Cohen....

and

The Feds already have the records supporting this explanation from Cohen's files....

I'm sure it was. That and many other things, all of them (supposedly) private. At $35,000 per month, Trump is paying his attorney $420,000 per year, every year. The porn star's piece was $130,000. Gosh, maybe we need to audit his attorney, huh?

This was Trump's money given as a retainer to his attorney, to be used at his attorney's discretion.

You're smart Frito!

That's exactly why the FBI raided his offices......

Attorney-client privilege? What attorney-client privilege?

What attorney-client privilege?

Are you actually copying and pasting from SS45's tweets??

According to the crime-fraud exception to the privilege, a client's communication to their attorney isn't privileged if made with the intention of committing or covering up a crime or fraud.

According to the crime-fraud exception to the privilege, a client's communication to their attorney isn't privileged if made with the intention of committing or covering up a crime or fraud.

How would anyone know there was "intention of committing or covering up a crime or fraud" without breaching the attorney-client privilege?

It's a fishing expedition -- first look at the privileged communication, then determine if a crime has been committed.

Let's search your house for illegal guns, porn, drugs, whatever. Then if we find something, we'll get a warrant. Sound good?

Please.....

Release your grip on the talking points memo....

A federal judge signed the search warrants for this, knowing that there was a line that must not be crossed. The FBI was well aware of this line as well.

Any privileged correspondence will be excluded.

Try also to understand, the federal prosecutor already knows what he's looking for, it's not fishing, it's verification.

Any privileged correspondence will be excluded.

Unless it's leaked.

"Try also to understand, the federal prosecutor already knows what he's looking for"

Yes, he's looking for evidence of a crime, any crime, by combing through privileged communication between Trump and his lawyer.

The only possible crime here would be if campaign funds were used to pay off the porn star. Does the federal prosecutor have proof of that? Or is he trying to find it? I call that a fishing expedition.

It is extremely unlikely it happened.

Trump is fighting his own party, the media, and the leftists now.
