Good fences make good agentsAmerican Patrol Report Comment -- December 21 
In 2006 the New York Times reported that 62 percent of U.S. Border recruits were Hispanic. Since the vast majority of Hispanics in the U.S. are of Mexican heritage, it is safe to say that we have been recruiting mostly Mexicans to guard the Mexican border.
Mexicans have strong family ties that reach across the border. Is it racist to suggest that many of these new agents might be somewhat conflicted in the role of Border Patrol agent? No, it is common sense. So why did Bush pack the academy with Mexicans? Because he thought it likely they would agree with him that the border shouldn't exist at all. And who runs the Border Patrol? David Aguilar.
Today's San Francisco Chronicle contains the following:
"The cartels continue to expand their reach into the United States, their biggest market. Federal officials have noticed that the cartels have stepped up their efforts to corrupt the border police, many of whom grew up in border towns and know people in both countries."
The Feds say they don't have the resources to determine if Mexicans are lying to them about why they want to be Border Patrol agents or if they have ties to drug gangs. Lying is part of the Mexican culture.
Corrupt Reconquista Border Patrol agents is just another reason why we need a double layered fence on the border. Good fences make good agents.
