On Thursday, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani joined President Donald Trump's legal team and said that he is aiming to bring Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation to an end within the next "week or two."
Giuliani had said earlier in the day that he was joining Trump's legal team specifically to help wrap up Mueller's Russia investigation because it was for "the good of the country."
Im going to join the legal team to try to bring this to a resolution, Giuliani told the New York Post. The country deserves it.
Giuliani noted that he has had a long relationship Mueller, a man that he said he greatly "respect[s]," and that he's done a good job.
I dont know yet whats outstanding. But I dont think its going to take more than a week or two to get a resolution," Giuliani said. Im going to ask Mueller, What do you need to wrap it up?
Giuliani would not discuss whether or not Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein might be fired by Trump, stating, Im not involved in anything about those issues. My advice on Mueller has been this: He should be allowed to do his job, hes entitled to do his job.
The Justice Department's Office of the Inspector General released Comey's memos to Congress today, a move that top Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), said could lead to Rosenstein being "being placed in contempt of Congress and the special counsel investigation of being shut down."
