The Democratic Party on Friday sued President Donald Trump's presidential campaign, the Russian government and the Wikileaks group, claiming a broad conspiracy to help Trump win the 2016 election.

The multi-million-dollar lawsuit filed in Manhattan federal court says that "In the Trump campaign, Russia found a willing and active partner in this effort" to mount "a brazen attack on American Democracy."

The suit says that "preexisting relationships with Russia and Russian oligarchs" with Trump and Trump associates "provided fertile ground for [the] Russia-Trump conspiracy."

The DNC said that while it would be impossible "to fully repair the harm caused by the defendants, the DNC has filed this civil complaint ... to hold the defendants accountable for their misconduct and to ensure transparency."

This could be looked upon as the single best opportunity for the team 45 to be exonerated.........

We should expect Rudy and DD to publicly and loudly embrace this! They will finally get their day in court!....

The DNC announcing a lawsuit against all these parties is proof enough that too many people have too much tyme on their hands.

A lawsuit against Russia? A stupid USA political party creating a lawsuit against Russia? This is too phunney; even if they win their multi-million dollar lawsuit, they will NEVER get a penny.

I'm glad Giuliani is coming on board. Trump will fire Sessions soon, Giuliani will take over as AG, and he will fire Rosenstein (or whatever his name is), and Mueller, end the charade, and probably appoint a Special Prosecutor to go after the Clintons, the FBI and Lois Lerner for good measure.

Politics by prosecutorial witch hunt began with the Democrat assault on Nixon, was done to Reagan, was done in revenge to Clinton, and is now being done to Trump.

With the Internet, everybody's wired and angry. And so we begin our slide into civil war.

As Jefferson said, "The Tree of Liberty has to be watered from time to time by the blood of patriots." Of course, Jefferson was a slaveowner, demonstrating that sheer hypocrisy has always been one of the cornerstone values of this republic of ours.

Republicans crushing Democrats doesn't make me sad.

But it would be nice if a new, Christian Democrat party arose to replace the old Democrat party and the Christian portion of the GOP with something new that will then crush the party of the rich in turn.

That way we can get to consensus one-party rule from the center, and we know how well THAT works. Just look at how it worked out for Mexico or India, or the Japanese!

Maybe in the depositions, the Trump campaign can question the DNC about how they colluded against Bernie Sanders in favor of Hillary!

And Seth Rich, a likely hero of honesty, can be presented in court as the likely leaker to Wikileaks.

Yeah, lets "think" about this ... to support a position in the legal arena ... EVIDENCE must be established; "evidence is beyond witness testimony." The testimony must include OBJECTIVE EVIDENCE based on fact an non-circumstantial evidence.

some additional information from Bloomberg:

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-04-20/trump-campaign-russia-sued-by-dnc-over-election-interference

The civil lawsuit could force President Donald Trump’s 2016 staffers to answer questions under oath about campaign activities. Evidence gathered by the DNC could be made public in court filings and at a trial -- in contrast to information obtained through Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe of Russian interference, which might not be publicly disclosed.

Many of the allegations reflect conclusions of major U.S. intelligence agencies and comes from guilty pleas and legal filings by Mueller, who is investigating links between Russia and the Trump campaign. The suit names close Trump associates including Jared Kushner, Roger Stone and Donald Trump Jr., along with several prosecuted by Mueller, signaling the DNC intends to cast a wide net.

The most effective thing Trump can do, given these rampant abuses of the justice system, is to start asserting executive privilege and issuing pre- emptive pardons, and then selectively ignoring lesser court orders, knowing that Federal District Courts have no actual power to do anything other than write opinions.

If the breakdown of the Justice system is going to be used to push you off a cliff, break it further and push IT off the cliff instead. As long as a rump of 34 Senators refuse to remove him, Trump can do anything without consequences.

That's certainly true.

My own expectation is that the two sides of the American polity are going to so enrage each other that we will end up in a shooting civil war that will burn down the country and slaughter the losing side. Then we'll have political peace, of a sort, for a few decades, because the ranks of the opposition will have been thinned, through death.

The hatred is flowing strong now, and getting stronger and stronger. Sooner or later, things are bound to explode spectacularly.

I don't know that it'll come to a shooting war (but I do think it will break rather than be repaired), but if your scenario comes to pass, just remember which side believes that "Gun-Free Zone!" paper signs are some sort of protection, and which side hauls hardware to the range every now and then.

I remember tossing my (closed, of course) Swiss Army pocketknife to my niece's boyfriend a couple years ago and watching the 20-something Pajama Boy pussy recoil in terror, letting it fall to the floor rather than catching it.

Didn't the DNC open itself up to some very unpleasant discovery? For example, wouldn't the computer server the DNC kept from the FBI be subject to discovery?

NATURE OF ACTION

I. INTRODUCTION

1. No one is above the law In the run-up to the 2016 election. Russia mounted a brazen attack on American Democracy. The opening salvo was a cyberattack on the DNC, carried out on Amencan soil. In 2015 and 2016, Russian intelligence services hacked into the DNC computers, penetrated its phone systems, and exfiltrated tens of thousands of documents and emails. Russia then used this stolen information to advance its own interests: destabilizing the U.S. political environment, denigrating the Democratic presidential nommee, and supporting the campaign of Donald J. Trump ("Trump"), whose policies would benefit the Kremlin.

2. In the Trump campaign, Russia found a willing and active partner in this effort. ...

But unpleasant to whom?

The DNC.

The time stamp intervals on the published documents are consistent with a download to a directly connected USB drive, and inconsistent with an online hack. There was no hack, there was a wrongful appropriation/conversion at the DNC by an individual who connected directly.

The Mueller investigation has turned up nothing relevant to the 2016 election. The DNC lawsuit is a public relations effort prior to the midterm elections. The DNC has suffered donation problems since it was exposed for rigging the primary for Hillary and colluding and conspiring against Bernie.

The DNC will never turn over the server. Before that, they will invoke Bleach Bit and Hillary's hammer squad, and claim non-availability.
