•Russia's U.N. Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia said the situation was even more dangerous because Russian troops are in Syria.

•"We cannot exclude any possibilities, unfortunately, because we saw messages that are coming from Washington," he said.

Russia's U.N. Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia urged the United States and its allies on Thursday to refrain from military action against Syria over a suspected chemical weapons attack and said he "cannot exclude" war between Washington and Moscow.

Speaking after a closed-door U.N. Security Council meeting requested by Bolivia over threats of military action in Syria by U.S. President Donald Trump, Nebenzia said the situation was even more dangerous because Russian troops are in Syria.

"The immediate priority is to avert the danger of war," he told reporters. "We hope there will be no point of no return."

When asked if he was referring to a war between the United States and Russia, he said, "We cannot exclude any possibilities, unfortunately, because we saw messages that are coming from Washington. They were very bellicose."

Trump said he was holding meetings on Thursday on Syria, and expected to make decisions "fairly soon."

Russia called a meeting of the Security Council for Friday on Syria and has asked for U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to publicly brief the body.

In a bid to avoid an escalation, Sweden proposed a Security Council resolution on Thursday, seen by Reuters, that would ask Guterres to send a high-level disarmament team to Syria to address "all outstanding issues on the use of chemical weapons once and for all."

Some U.N. diplomats said there was little interest among the council's 15 member countries to pursue the proposal.

Nebenzia thanked Sweden for its efforts, but added, "Frankly in the circumstances we find ourselves now, this is not an immediate priority."

The council failed on Tuesday to approve three draft resolutions on chemical weapons attacks in Syria. Russia vetoed a U.S. text, while two Russian-drafted resolutions failed to get a minimum nine votes to pass.

Investigators from the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons are traveling to Syria to determine whether a toxic gas was used in the town of Douma, the site of the April 7 incident, and will start work on Saturday. They are not mandated to assign blame.

Syrian U.N. Ambassador Bashar Ja'afari told reporters on Thursday, "We're ready to escort them to where they want, whenever they want, anytime they want."

"Any delay or disruption in the visit will be a result of the political pressure exercised on the OPCW from a very well-known state, as the Syrian government expressed its readiness to facilitate this visit," Ja'afari said.

Ok. So, Russia's going to end the world in support of a genocidal dictator. We all die eventually. Guess it's going to be in nuclear fireballs and fallout after all. So be it.

We die. They die. We all go to judgment. The innocent go to Heaven. Those who pressed the button first and ordered it to happen roast in Hell for eternity. Seems entirely fair. And now that Russia has putatively gotten religion again, they ought to know this too.

In a conventional war, Russia loses. Their military is too small and insufficiently funded. They cannot defeat the United States. They certainly cannot defeat the US PLUS NATO PLUS Israel PLUS Japan and South Korea, PLUS Australia and New Zealand. Not a hope in Hell.

If the Russians start a conventional war in Europe, they will end up conquered.

They ought to know that. If they start a conventional war in the MIddle East, they and their allies will end up conquered.

The Russian economy is smaller than the economies of France or Britain or Italy or Germany or Japan or the Benelux countries. It would be as though South Korea decided to attack the world. Ludicrous.

Perhaps the Russians are hoping to get the Chinese involved.

Well, that would tie down Asia, certainly, but the Chinese can't put a Navy outside of the China Seas.

So, then, Russia would lose a conventional war from the start. The only option they have is to go nuclear, and they would have to do that pre-emptively, because we MIGHT be able to take out great deal of the Russian nuclear forces with a surprise first strike.

Therefore, if Russia is threatening war. they are either threatening a kamikaze suicide that will end the problem of Russia once and for all by Western and Japanese, and probably Chinese conquest and divvying up that land. OR they are threatening to blow up the world over a Syrian dictator, in which case we all die, and then their leaders roast in Hell for eternity.

In every scenario, they lose. In the nuclear scenario, we all lose, here, and then they lose in the afterlife. It sucks to be weak and evil, because you just lose every which way in the end. Ask Hitler and Tojo.

Russia will do nothing.

That being said, America must extricate itself from further meddling in other countries. Stick to the Monroe Doctrine which hasn't been applied in about an eon.

We can't stick to the Monroe Doctrine. Isolation bought us World War II. Had we been on the Rhine in 1940, there would have been no World War II.

Had we been on the Rhine in 1940, there would have been no World War II.

And had we butchered the Russian bear in 1945 we wouldn't have become entangled in Korea or View Name or the middle east.

In 1940 most of Americans sympathized with Germany. Only WASPs were against and not all.

In 1940 most of Americans sympathized with Germany. Only WASPs were against and not all.

That's ignorant.

It's flat out not true.

In 1940, most Americans had a low opinion of Europe, European affairs and European politics. They wanted NOTHING TO DO WITH Europe, and were content to let the Europeans eat themselves.

In 1940, most Americans were a generation, maybe two, off the boat, and carried their parents' and grandparents' bitterness with their homelands, which they LEFT for a REASON. Those reasons did not endear Americans to Europe. Nobody wanted to go back.

Politically, the Americans remembered World War I. All of the American males in their 40s had been drafted for it. They remembered the grimness and the terror of it. They ALSO remembered that they had come in and kicked the Germans' asses rapidly, that the Germans quit, and that the American President had tried to bring a good and equitable solution, but that the Europeans had ignored the Americans and imposed all sorts of sanctions on Germany, such that the Americans walked away from the Versailles Treaty in disgust and would not ratify it.

Americans did not favor one tribe over the other in Europe. in 1940, as in 2018, we consider ourselves to be the moral, economic, military and organizational superiors of ALL of the various squabbling, petty European tribes. Americans looked at, and still look upon, the Europeans as the Romans looked down upon the Greeks. Europeans are clever, artistic inferiors. Quarrelsome, petty little races that are best governed by us and, under our tutelage and strong arm of governance and military protection, left to do what Europeans admittedly do best: produce art, literature, luxury goods and pleasant cultural experiences for their people and ours, when we choose to go tour the empire.

THAT is what Europe is. The Americans after 1918 (and in truth, before) never considered ANY Europeans to be our equals, because Europeans are not. Russians, relative to Americans, have always been poor, ignorant peasants. It's like a whole nation of Appalachian hillbillies.

The Germans? A bunch of violent brutes. Strong in their neighborhood, bullies, but crushed like a bug by American power.

Europeans have attitudes about Americans, and Americans have attitudes about Europeans. We did not stay out of World War II because we favored the Germans. That's a lie. A delusion. We stayed out of Europe because we won World War I, we crushed the Germans and we knew it, and the Europeans ignored us and imposed a treaty we disapproved of. Our reaction to them was: Fuck you. Burn in hell. That was why we let the Germans bomb England flat for a year and did not come in. France falls? Their problem, not ours. We saved them last time but they did not listen to us. England is burning? Their problem, not ours. We saved them last time, but they did not listen to us. The USSR is invaded? Who cares? They're Communists.

We prepared for war. Germany very foolishly declared war on us in December 10, 1941. 6 months later we invaded North Africa and kicked their asses. A year after that, we were in Italy and Mussolini had fallen, so now the Germans had to defend Italy.

We poured weapons and ammo and trucks and planes into Russia, so Russia was able to turn the tide - because of us. Without our economic and military air, Russia would have been conquered in 1942. We know that, and Stalin did too. Russian pride doesn't let them admit it, but really, who cares what Russians think? We never did. Still don't.

A year after that, we landed at Normandy and crushed the German army in France like a sledgehammer hitting an eggshell. We destroyed German cities at will from the sky.

In 1944 the Germans tried against us what worked against France in 1940. The "Battle of the Bulge" had surprise. But the net result of the battle was the destruction of the Germany Western Army, and Americans and our allies grinding inexorably into Germany on a broad front.

Once the USA came into the war Germany did not have a hope in hell of winning it. If we did not come in, they would have won it in Russia in 1942- 43, and then taken out the British.

As it is, when THIS war ended, we did not pretend that the Europeans were our equals anymore. We propped up France and Britain with us as "Big 3" Western powers, but both of them were subordinate - CLEARLY subordinate.

The British knew it and played the game, and when it was time to let their empire go, they did. The French resisted it, fought in Vietnam - and we let their army there be destroyed. No, France, you don't get to keep your worldwide empire. Algeria was next. Finally the French let go.

The world decolonized BECAUSE the victors of WW 2 were the USSR and the USA. BECAUSE the USSR was evil, dominated by the Russian Hitler called Stalin and a murderous Communist Party, the USSR had to be contained, and it was, by American power, all around the world.

Eventually we crushed the USSR by economically wearing them out, and now there is no more USSR and the USA is world hegemon.

Islam is a threat that is particularly difficult for the Americans to deal with, because of our own idea of the superiority of the culture of freedom and religious tolerance and multiculturalism.

This is the antithesis of what Islam stands for.

But once the Muslims attacked New York, it was curtains for all of the enemy governments of the time: Iraq, Libya, Yemen, the Sudan, and even portions of the Saudi Royal Family.

In time, we have ground them all down. Iran remains. And Syria, for the moment, but ISIS is gone, Al Qaeda is just a boogey-man word used to jump up our military spending with approval from the people.

Simply put: denigrating the US, which essentially rules the world and has established the world security situation and economy, and denigrating American people, is always going to get a sneering response from Americans. We didn't like the Germans in 1940. They thought that they were the Master Race and that we were, to use their term, "Mongrels". But actually we were, and are, the master race - we won, and we are, in fact, Masters. We know it.

We teach our elites NOT to think that way, because that was the thinking of little pidgin men in Europe, like the Nazis. They were never our equals in anything - not science, not war, not economics. Germany was a shitty little country in a continent full of shitty little countries and one huge shitty country. It crushed the shitty little countries around it, stupidly picked a fight with the big shitty country but did well against it...for awhile.

And then they were idiots and picked a fight on the United States, which is like a chihuahua biting a bull mastiff. They awakened a sleeping giant, which - unlike the puny Germans - was able to SUCCESSFULLY wage a three (not just two) front war and crush ALL THREE of our adversaries: Japan, Italy and Germany. Done.

And then we stopped. Not because we HAD to, but because we accomplished our mission. We had crazy Nazi-minded Americans, like Patton, who wanted to commit the mass-murder Nazi-madness of invading an ally (the USSR) and killing our allies, using even nuclear weapons on them, in order to rule the world.

That is the madness of little European minds. That is not how Americans thought, or think. We have evolved PAST the crazy little schoolyard bullying of European statecraft.

To be fair, under our tutelage and protection, the Europeans ALSO have evolved to be much better than they were. Wilson's points were ignored by the Europeans in 1918, but in 1945, with the US having conquered Europe, they had no choice - and they WORKED. Europe is happy and prosperous today BECAUSE the Americans were more advanced in their thinking and made it what it is.

Now European culture can flourish, and the Europeans can do what Europeans are good at.

Because Russia was, unfortunately, enslaved by the USSR, the Russians and Eastern peoples did not share in the prosperity. Since the fall of the USSR, Eastern Europe has joined in the prosperity.

Russia is a hard case for Americans, because the USSR was such an enemy for so long. I think that we lost an opportunity with Russia.

But here we are.

In any case, no, we were never on the Germans' side in World War II. Hitler had his crazy "Master Race" shit, under which we were mongrels. We resented the Germans as disturbers of the peace. But we didn't care if they burnt down Europe, because the Europeans had snubbed us in 1918, so "Fuck Europe".

We let Europe burn and we didn't really care.

Once Hitler was stupid enough to declare war on us, he and the German regime were dead men walking.
