If I were President, our missiles would target the residence of the Syrian leaders and commanding officers of their military. Cut off the head of the snake, make the guys at the very top fear for their lives, or die. That's much more just, and more effective at getting inside of their decision loop. Here, we signaled that we will bomb something. Do that, and we signal that our purposes is to wipe out the leadership of the country that is taking the decisions causing the trouble. Most of the world's problems have been generated by America's childishness and stupidity lately. Well, the military certainly has the power to remove the President and Congress and Supreme Court at any time. It would be illegal, but nobody could stop it other than other members of the military itself. I'd prefer we not go down the road of coup and counter-coup and banana republicanism, and I don't think we're close to that. I happen to agree with the strikes on Syria. Most of America is indifferent to it. Those who care, REALLY care, but that is no less true for me with regards to abortion, or somebody else with regards to whether or not Black lives matter. Truth is, all of us opinionated minorities on hour hobbyhorses are each a fringe splinter. Even the Democrats or the Republicans are less than a third of the people. Most people want job, health and housing security and a better future for their kids. As long as that is available, most people have some issue that inflames them...but not enough people are willing to overturn the applecart for any fringe issue (and Syria and israel are fringe Issues for most Americans). So, shit will happen, we won't like various parts of it, for various different reasons, and life will go on in the main.
