The Air Force has ruled that one of its commanders had a right to exercise his religious beliefs when he declined to sign a certificate of appreciation for the same-sex spouse of an airman under his command.

Col. Leland Bohannon, a Christian, had previously refused to sign a certificate of appreciation for the same-sex spouse of a retiring master sergeant in his command.

Last year, the Air Force ruled that the incident was discrimination, and passed Bohannon up for promotion to brigadier general. Rep. Doug Lamborn, R-Colo., and other lawmakers, sent a letter to Secretary of the Air Force Heather Wilson in December, supporting Bohannon’s bid for a religious accommodation in the case.

In a reversal of fortunes, Wilson responded Monday with her own letter, notifying Lamborn that the director of the Air Force Review Boards Agency granted Bohannon his appeal.

“The director concluded that Colonel Bohannon had the right to exercise his sincerely held religious beliefs and did not unlawfully discriminate when he declined to sign the certificate of appreciation for the same-sex spouse of an airman in his command,” Wilson wrote. The letter reaffirmed that the Air Force has a duty to treat people fairly and without discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin and sexual orientation.

In this case, however, that duty was met “by having a more senior officer sign the certificate,” Wilson wrote.

They really need to kick all the faggot out of the military. Or better yet the country.

Nice followup. We heard the original story blared about on various blogs and news sites from the Right and the Left. And the followup story where his rights were recognized belatedly? Page 23, below the fold. If the followup ever even gets published at all.

As that old story asked many years ago, "Where do I go to get my good name back?"

He didn't deserve this treatment. The entire process was designed to punish him and provide a warning to others not to risk making any such principled personal stand on religious grounds. They intend to deter anyone from following his example. And it will probably work too.

Yes,yes,yes,and yes.

In the entire history of the world, the only nations that had to build walls to keep their own citizens from leaving were those with leftist governments.

I'm very pleased but not all that surprised -- only because 0bama and Val-Jar are no longer "President". His/her military machination seems to be getting purged somewhat now that Trump is Prez. Still got a way t go though.

Reckon Ms. Heather ("I-have-lady-parts") Wilson got her OWN "memo"??

This Leftist-Stalinist-SJW technique of illegal intimidation, coercion, and blackmail is used ubiquitously, whether in Gummint, Entertainment, or as we've seen, at the Corporate level (see Laura Ingraham).

The continued sanction of this insane SJW crusade MUST end. The light (actually a LASER) must be shone on the azzes of all haters who promote and engage in this disgusting ploy to normalize the abnormal.

The usual suspects lead this charge: The ACLU and SPLC, who specifically target Christians and Conservatives. Their leaders seem to be mostly Militant Atheist Queers, who are a toxic bane of society rivaled only by Mosslems.

Indeed. Ol' James Norman Mattis has his work cut out for him. But I believe he is up to the task.

The good thing about senior Generals occupying the Sec Def seat is that they have already been exposed at the highest levels the political crap most of them hate to deal with. So Mattis knows what shenanigans are ongoing in the Puzzle Palace (Pentagon) and on Capitol Hill. It helps to have a 'boss' in Trump who has his back.

I HOPE you're right about Mattis.

The SJW who USED TO have an insanely free run of messing up the DoD -- I hope Mattis takes a torch to those lunatics and their AA-SJW policies. Enough is enough.

You can NOT have women running and ordering ANY thing that requires breaking stuff and killing the enemy. Or women in combat.

0bama booby-trapped the entire show. DEEEEP. (Dubya didn't help.)

Gonna take a while (if ever) to root at that out.

Sounds like the plot of some screw ball movie !!

Can you imagine if they had put her under Pattons command.

Heh...NEXT out of Hollywood: On the History Channel: "Patton was a actually a Dyke!!"

It's often said that Patton would be far too PC today; Heck, he was barely allowed to lead Third Army as it was. The incident when he slapped the soldier was the beginning of PC influence ruining the military.
