Google is catching heat for declining to feature a cartoon of Jesus on its search engine. Oh, the outrage.(Photo: Paul Sakuma, Paul Sakuma, AP)
I just found out that Google hates Christians.
Who knew?
Fox News was all over the story on Sunday, breaking the news that Google didnt put a cartoon Jesus on its search engine on Easter.
Worse, it was the 18th year of snubbing the son of God.
Google snubbed Easter with no doodle for 18th year in a row, Christians say, Fox News reported Sunday.
The network cited a tweet by actor James Woods, responding to another tweet about the absence of an Easter Google Doodle.
Woods was responding to this tweet from InfoWars editor-at-large Paul Joseph Watson:
So, two Christians complaining constitutes a national story.
I suppose if Google has a problem with Christians, then it also must loathe Jews because there was no cartoon version of Passover this weekend either. Then again, that's probably because Google says it doesnt do Doodles for religious observances, having been on the receiving end of an ample amount of grief the few times it did so.
Turns out Google cant catch a break no matter what anyway.
The Washington Post lays out a litany Google doodles that have outraged people and/or raised suspicion that the company was sending out nefarious coded messages. They include doodles depicting a 50-million-year-old fossil (offended party: creationists) and a doodled portrait of John F. Kennedy on the 50th anniversary of his inauguration (offended party: Republicans).
We are, after all, easily offended. So much so that we actually go trolling search engine websites on Christianity's most holy day ,looking for things to get all up in a dander about.
Sadly, I missed the whole wheres-my-Jesus-Doodle controversy on Sunday.
Its what I get, I suppose, for going to church on Easter morning to praise the Lord rather than going onto social media sites to pick fights in His name.
Today, I find out that the risen Lord didnt get turned into a cartoon.
