Title: Palin finally speaks on immigration, supports path to citizenship

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says she supports John McCain's position on immigration, including a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants.

It's the first time she's addressed the issue in depth, and her views are likely to shape her chances of leading the Republican Party should McCain fail to win the White House nect month.

She said she agrees with McCain, who fought most of his party in trying to legalize most illegal immigrants.

"John McCain has been so clear with his policy and it makes a lot of sense too. We secure our borders first. But then with a comprehensive approach we must deal humanely with those who are here, and we must allow the steps to be taken to protect the families of those who are here, maybe as illegal immigrants today," she told Univision's "Al Punto" Sunday political talk show in an interview aired this weekend.

She said she doesn't support "amnesty" because those here illegally should be shuttled to the back of the line for services.

"Not total amnesty. You know, people have got to follow the rules. They've got to follow the law, and we have got to make sure that there is equal opportunity and those who are here legally should be first in line for services being provided and those opportunities that this great country provides."

She also said she opposes driver's licenses for illegal immigrants and said she would not halt immigration raids. She said decisions on raids should be made "on a case-by-case basis to consider all the ramifications of each individual action."

LIE..she supports that they GET IN LINE for citizenship, like everyone else.

Ahem...Ron Paul's record on Immigration:

http://w ww.newswithviews.com/public_comm/public_commentary48.htm

SNIP~

I'd collected Ron Paul's voting record on the very strategies urged that night to reverse the influence of "one-world government:" hiring Americans, no amnesty for illegal aliens and border security based on Paul's Immigration Voting Record & Report Card on the NumbersUSA website:

(1) Paul consistently voted every year since 1999 against putting the military on the border: 2006: H. Amdt. 206 to H.R. 1815 2004: Goode Amendment to H.R. 4200 2003: Goode Amendment to H.R. 1588 2002: H. Amdt. 479 to H.R. 4546 2001: Traficant amendment to HR 2586 2000: Traficant amendment to H.R.4205 1999: Trafficant Amendment to H.R. 1401.

(2) Paul voted in 1997, 2001( H.R. 1885) and 2002 (H RES 365) to grant, extend or continue Section 245-i amnesties for illegal aliens.

(3) Paul voted NO on extending the voluntary Basic Pilot Workplace Verification Program (H.R. 2359),

(4) Paul voted NO on the border fence in 2005 (Hunter Amendment to HR 4437 - "Enforcement Only" Bill). (5) Paul voted YES to increase H2-B (HR 763 in 2005) and H-1B visas (HR 3736 in 1998).

In 1998, he voted to allow US firms to lay off Americans to replace them with foreigners. What a surprise to hear Mrs. Freeman focus her reply not on the five items I'd presented, but instead on Congressman Paul's introduction of a bill banning "birthright citizenship" (actually one of several in the Congressional hopper). Was this another example of the politicians' shell game?

I reminded her that my questions weren't about birthright citizenship, but instead about using the military on the border, opposing the border fence amendment to HR 4437, his support for several Section 245i amnesties for illegal aliens and increased guest-worker visas for jobs Americans want. She apparently realized that I wouldn't be blown off so easily and spoke to the questions presented.

She said a border fence wasn't needed; sensors at the border would be enough. On the matter of the military on the border, she said it wasn't necessary--the Border Patrol should be fully empowered to do the job. She claimed that the job was done more effectively without the military when states patrolled their own borders, adding an anecdote about Texas Rangers' success in stopping diseased cattle from crossing the border.

The same neocon anti Ron Paul against the fence bullshit. I'm against a fence too and *I* have done numerous protests against the illegals.

You need a new act.

Ron Paul: "No Amnesty, No Welfare for Illegal Aliens" www.allamericanpatriots.c...no_welfare_illegal_aliens

June 18, 2007 -- ARLINGTON, VA – The Ron Paul campaign issued the following statement:

"As a congressman, Ron Paul has been a leader in the fight to end illegal immigration. He voted for a border fence, opposes the current Senate "compromise" bill, and introduced legislation to end birth right citizenship. Dr. Paul has consistently warned Americans about the looming menace of the North American Union and is the only presidential candidate calling for an end to welfare benefits, mandatory medical care and free education for illegal aliens. Article continues below... view counter

"No leader in Washington has fought to end illegal immigration harder than Congressman Ron Paul," said Ron Paul 2008 campaign chairman Kent Snyder. "Dr. Paul knows that America must never grant amnesty to those who are in our country illegally."

The following are statements Dr. Paul has made in the U.S. House of Representatives:

-- "The much-vaunted Senate "compromise" on immigration is a compromise alright: a compromise of our laws, a compromise of our sovereignty, and a compromise of the Second Amendment. That anyone in Washington believes this is a credible approach to solving our immigration crisis suggests just how out of touch our political elites really are."

-- "If we reward millions who came here illegally, surely millions more will follow suit. Ten years from now we will be in the same position, with a whole new generation of lawbreakers seeking amnesty."

-- "...real national security cannot be achieved unless and until our borders are physically secured. It's as simple as that. All the talk about fighting terror and making America safer is meaningless without border security. It makes no sense to seek terrorists abroad if our own front door is left unlocked."

Really? I'll talk to my Minutemen friends about it.

As for you, I've been completely mystified. Why MM? Is it just PDS or are you blind to Paul's obvious 2007-I'm running for President in 2008 BS change of heart? You obviously believe him, I don't.

I've supported you in all of your one man protests over the years and it's "I" who needs a new act? Your new act of PDS is simply stunning.

All my minutemen friends are FOR the fence. They know how effective the double fence in San Diego has been. Legislation alone will not stop the flow of illegals coming across the border. The drug cartels are against the fence. Illegals and their smugglers are against the fence. I know why they are against the fence, but I don't understand why Moderate Mammal is against the fence.

A fence is a farce without enforcing the law. If you give a "path to citizenship", welfare, amnesty, free health care, no enforcement of employers who hire illegal aliens and birthright citizenship....

The US did not need a fence in the past. That's because the law was enforced before the neocons took control. Bush destroyed the Border Patrols enforcement and called the Minutemen "vigilantes". The illegals knew they could come here unabated. Every time anyone on the border reported them, nothing was done.

A physical fence is a red herring.

Like when? You think the problem started with Bush? Nonsense. Have you studied the effects of the fence, where it exists? You call it a red herring, I call it effective. The fence is not the only border enforcement measure that is needed but it is certainly and integral part of it.

The Fence Works

Learn more about the fence

"path to citizenship", welfare, amnesty, free health care, no enforcement of employers who hire illegal aliens and birthright citizenship....

I can guarantee you that the smugglers are not interested in any of the above. Current fencing has already had an effect on their operations and they are fighting over territory to cross the border. The more fence that goes up, the more violene they create in Mexico. That is a proven fact, one that the MSM and others (obvioulsy yourself included) wish to ignore. The fence needs to be completed as mandated by Congress.

The problem went from a trickle to a tidal wave under Bush. Back in the 70's I don't recall illegal immigration being a problem. Lawns were cut, veggies available....without a fence. And without the illegals.

Perhaps you need to talk with your Minutemen Friends who btw did not start an organization until Bush came along.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minuteman_Project

The Minuteman Project is an activist organization started in April 2005[1] by a group of private individuals in the United States to monitor the United States–Mexico border's flow of illegal immigrants. Co-founded by Jim Gilchrist, the name derives from the Minutemen, militiamen who fought in the American Revolution. The Minuteman Project describes itself as "a citizens' Neighborhood Watch on our border", and has attracted media attention to illegal immigration.

I know Jim Gilchrist - personally. Talk to him a lot.

I work for Glenn Spencer - the Godfather of the entire anti-illegal immigration movement. BTW - Jim wants the fence. I know plenty of the history and I have friends who have been murdered by the smugglers just because they wouldn't let them cross through their property.

Before Bush - there was a problem and I have documentation to proove it.

Jim Gilchrist sold out.

Americans get murdered by the smugglers because LEA will do nothing about the problem. How many stories were there of the government taking sides with the illegals over Americans during trespassing and home invasions?

We all recall the incident with Ramos and Compean. And the other incidents of corrupt agents.

Have lost most of my business and having done more than 80 protests along with many other Americans after 9/11 under Bush was directly because of illegal immigration and traitors doing business with those that use illegal labor and outsourcing. There was no fence during the '90s.

The fence is a Red Herring. You're not going to get the same traitors to build a fence who refuse to do anything else to to stop them.
