Sessions announced the decision in a statement just before 10 p.m., noting that both the Justice Department Inspector General and the FBI office that handles discipline had found “that Mr. McCabe had made an unauthorized disclosure to the news media and lacked candor — including under oath — on multiple occasions.”

He said based on those findings and the recommendation of the department’s senior career official, “I have terminated the employment of Andrew McCabe effective immediately.”

The move will likely cost McCabe a significant portion of his retirement benefits, though it is possible he could bring a legal challenge. McCabe has been fighting vigorously to keep his job, and on Thursday, he spent nearly four hours inside the Justice Department pleading his case.

EXCELLENT news!

Let these upper level asshats get a little taste of what they have spent decades doing to others while thinking the rules didn't apply to them.

Truth to tell,at least half of the people in leadership positions in the FBI need to be in prison. MAYBE then some honest FBI field agents could get into positions of power and turn things around.

In the entire history of the world, the only nations that had to build walls to keep their own citizens from leaving were those with leftist governments.

Probably not,but I don't see how they can fight this without exposing further corruption and illegalities by people in Feeb leadership positions. It sure would be nice to see some of the straight arrow honest agents put in charge for the first time in the history of the organization. Hoover was more crooked than a snake, and only stayed in office as long as he did because his prime goal from Day One was to use the Feebs to investigate and get blackmail material on the professional political class and their relatives.

Not saying there hasn't been a large number of naive young agents that joined the agency with starts in their eyes and dreams of arresting the corrupt and connected. There has been, and none of them ever get out of remote field offices unless they are on vacation. Most quit after a few years and move on to something else after realizing they will never be promoted into positions of power.

No golden parachute gov pension.

He has full civil service protections so he'll get over 99% of his pension.

He was career civil service, not just a political appointee like James Comey was.

Firing him on his last day when he was already on vacation leave seems kinda petty.

His behavior was criminal. You must not have paid attention to his texts.

It is long overdue not petty at all.

He should now be prosecuted.

Petty was Dumpster's tweet about him several months ago when he put him in his cross hairs.

Except that McCabe will prevail and keep all (or 99%) of his pension after the media mob howls about him for a couple of weeks.

No, it's not effective and it probably hurts Trump more than it helps him in any practical way.

So, other than making Trump looking like he's petty and vindictive and ineffectual about it, this doesn't do anything to put any real fear into the federal bureaucracy.

What's needed is a second special investigator to go after all of these people (including Mueller's bunch) with inpunity. That would actually inspire a lot of fear.

Couldn't Trump insist that the smart lawyers in the Justice Department fight McCabes pension?

And wouldn't dueling special investigators make even more of a political mess? - -- From an entertainment standpoint, bring it on, -- but I doubt it would put any of these slick bastards in jail. ---- Only Trump, using his constitutional powers to prosecute, could do that...

What would he have to lose?

From your cite: - ---

"In fact, McCabe is all of 49 years old, likely 50 by the time readers see this, and what he lost out on was, as CNN much more calmly recounts, the ability to take his benefits at age 50, rather than somewhere between age 57 and age 62, and he lost his eligibility to a special top-up in benefit formula. These are, admittedly, tangible financial losses, but it is grossly misleading that various news outlets are giving the general public the impression that he has lost his pension entirely."

---- Seems to me that if McCabe is convicted of any crimes committed in his official capacities, he could be striped of his entire pension.. --- No?

Don't know, that's a pretty big "if"

A more realistic scenario is that he'll be hired elsewhere in federal government, (offers already on the table, I believe) and end up collecting his full pension.

in any event - this is just another emotionally driven diversion by the comb- over-king.

Emphatically, YES!

Also seems to me that the higher the criminality in the upper food chain of gummint, the more immunity/impunity they are given. Especially in the respective case of treason and sedition and other High Crimes.

This "protocol" all began when the US Senate just up and dismissed the Hearings of one Bubba Klintoon for Impeachment out of the blue.

I'd bet he'll face criminal prosecution..

That lens is pretty foggy. Are you sure you're looking through the right end?

There are quite a few processes that must take place between seeing the ingredients for a Thanksgiving Feast on the farm and kitchen counter... and finally cutting the turkey and dishing out the side-dishes.

Did the FBI elders did find that McCabe had committed a firing ofense?

Yes, they did.

Is it usual and customary to punish the family of the guilty party, in this case by denying them at least a portion of McCabe's pension, no.

The move to have him fired and to publicly bad-mouth him is the low-class passive aggressive diversionary act of the JOTUS.

This is true -- "basically ignored" can't be allowed to be the case when Sedition and Treason are dismissed off-handedly.

Lerner, Holder, Hitlery, Rice, Power, Comey -- the entire lot just LAUGH, knowing full well a policy is in place that exonerates them from ANY LE.

I suspect the Framers knew eventually -- given human nature and history -- that Power would corrupt and the Republic had a very brief Expiation Date. Even with their safeguards in place.
