The parents of a Democratic party employee who was shot and killed in 2016 are suing Fox News for spreading a conspiracy about his death. After their son Seth Rich died, the cable network made an unsubstantiated link between his death and Wikileaks' disclosure of hacked DNC emails. Joel and Mary Rich have filed a lawsuit that says Fox News "intentionally exploited" their son's murder. The 16 May 2017 Fox story was retracted by the network after a week. A Fox News spokesperson said: "We can't comment on this pending litigation." The lawsuit says Fox News investigative reporter Malia Zimmerman and Fox News guest Ed Butowsky spread "false and fabricated facts" that caused emotional harm. Mr and Ms Rich said in a statement: "No parent should ever have to live through what we have been forced to endure", according to US media. "The pain and anguish that comes from seeing your murdered son's life and legacy treated as a mere political football is beyond comprehension," they said. The lawsuit adds: "Fox continued to exploit the sham story because it was good for ratings." Seth Rich, a 27-year-old Nebraksa college graduate and DNC staffer, had lived in Washington DC from 2012 until his death on 10 July 2016. He was shot in the back in the north-west of the city at the Bloomingdale neighbourhood, where residents had reported a spate of gunpoint robberies. Following his death, some right-wing media suggested his killing was revenge by figures linked to the Hillary Clinton campaign for allegedly leaking embarrassing DNC emails to Wikileaks. Sean Hannity, writers at InfoWars, and Republicans in Congress contributed to spreading the conspiracy theory. Prominent Republican Newt Gingrich took up the story after it was published and said on Fox News: "It wasn't the Russians [who hacked the DNC's emails]. "It was this young guy who was disgusted by the corruption of the DNC." Mr and Ms Rich argue in the lawsuit that Fox News' reaction to his death painted their son "as a criminal and traitor to the United States". Wikileaks itself fuelled the conspiracy theory by offering a reward for the capture of Mr Rich's killer and hinting that he may have been the source of the emails. No evidence has emerged to indicate that Mr Rich provided the emails to the anti-secrecy organisation. The Washington Metropolitan Police Department said his murder was part of an armed robbery. The lawsuit, filed in the Federal District Court of Manhattan, claims Fox spread the false story "through lies, misrepresentations, and half-truths - with disregard for the obvious harm that their actions would cause Joel and Mary". Mr Butowsky, a wealthy Texas businessman sued by the Riches, told CNN on Tuesday night that he did not "understand this lawsuit at all". "This whole thing has caused unbelievable damage to my life and my family," he said. "And the idea that somebody has capitalised is ridiculous. It just doesn't make any sense to me."

Traitor to the United States? If he was killed because he was the source of the leak, he died a hero.
Fox will blow them out of the water. No reason for his death. No one has ever found his computer. No money missing or valuables missing from his body. Smells like a coverup from the get go and there is a high probability that he was the leaker of information against the DNC ie clinton machine. We all know what happens to those that might cross or do cross the clintons! Clinton count break 40 yet? You would think his family would want to know the truth but I guess like all demoncraps they pray to the altar of DNC!
If he was killed because he was the source of the leak, he died a hero. Yup, Rich IS a "hero." I'd LOVE to see the Discovery" involving this case. Just how much can Hillary & Co get away with? Democrat/Left/MSM spin is getting so bizarre that 100% must be considered a lie UNTIL proven true.

I happen to agree with you,but that judgment is in the eyes of the people making it. If you are a Clintroid,it makes you a traitor. If you are a Constitutionalist,it makes you a hero. Evidently his parents consider him to be a traitor,and want to force people to quit talking about him. Why is anyone even bothering to ask anymore? It's obvious to aliens in other universes by now they are going to get away with anything they want to get away with. Bubba and Bubbette! are BOTH guilty of multiple felonies including treason and lying under oath,and nobody in a position to do anything about it will utter a peep. The last one that went after them was Newt Gingrich when he was the Speaker of the House,and look at what happened to him. It should be presumed that his family have been compensated and/or threatened. I'd sure like to get a look at their bank accounts both before and after they went on TV. No doubt. They'd been made an Offer They Can't Refuse. It was obviously a hit. Another "mystery": Michael Hastings. The murdered Breitbart associate (whose own coroner ALSO mysteriously passed away pronto. So much for "Investigative Journalism."
We had to wait a bit longer to see if that would still remain true. Now that Trump has become President and she's STILL piping up and talking smack, yup -- they WILL be getting away with EVERYTHING. (barf) In sheer number of crimes AND degree -- from multiple cases of treason to murder -- has any American in our history ever repeatedly made such a mockery of justice and the US Constitution? And gotten away with it? The 'Body Count' also remains a further monument to their immunity from justice in this world. Can you imagine just how many accomplices, associates and "clean up crew" participants there must be? Many who themselves were ironically taken out. JUST for "knowing something." (Reminds me of those "Goodfellas" post-caper scenes.) The last one that went after them was Newt Gingrich when he was the Speaker of the House,and look at what happened to him. Ain't that the truth. Gingrich declared an open war on them as Speaker...and before we knew it, he almost immediately become a "disgraced" pariah within the GOP and also among Conservatives. The MSM and Elements pounced. Gingrich's turnaround from Lead Conservative, Republican and pro-America crusader to national persona non-grata was stunning. He DID manage to survive. Given the cautionary tale of Gingrich (and Body Count), Trump's direct threats to USS Klintoon on national tee-bee and his victory remains THE political miracle of our lifetime. Given the Dem Presidential slot was given to 0bama to "replace" Bubbette (by the Overlords), you wonder how close their army of loyalists got to "settling" that issue? Remember the near-brawl in SC when Bubba started going after 0bama, then had to pull back? And also how Bubbette! didn't even bother competing in the Michigan primary? Had to be THE strangest Primary ever. But no one has ever written the truth of the matter in a book. I reckon for the same reason a movie about Larry Sinclair and Barry has never been produced.)
