TEHRAN, April 26Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, president of the Islamic Republic of Iran, received Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, Cuban minister of government, who is leading a delegation in Iran that participated in the 11th Session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Scientific/Technical Cooperation between the two countries. In an environment of friendship and solidarity propitious to expanding bilateral relations, the Iranian president highlighted the sincerity that characterizes these relations and expressed thanks for what he called "Cubas brave stance beside Iran."
Likewise, he spoke in favor of even closer relations between the two countries in the economic, trade, cultural, scientific and other spheres, and praised Cubas advances in these areas.
For his part, Minister Cabrisas emphasized that in recent months, the foundations have been laid not only for deepening bilateral ties, but also for diversifying them, which was demonstrated by the outcome of the Joint Commission meetings.
Cabrisas also referred to the upcoming celebration in Cuba of the Non-Aligned Movement Summit, an excellent opportunity for continuing to strengthen dialogue between the two countries.
The Iranian president was accompanied by Mahammad Reza Eskandari, Jihad minister of agriculture, and officials from the executive and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
