That was argued some time after the crushing of the davidians to cast doubt on him as a bad man deserving what happened to him. It was not the original reason given to justfy the attack.
Yep, Koresh was a madman rapist. But that wasn't the excuse used by the ATF for the raid. They used his gun violations for the warrant. Then the FBI thoroughly messed up, and caused the last assault and fire, killing EVERYONE, even the children. Koresh could have been arrested in town easily before the raid.. But our grandstanding agencys needed a 'win'. --- Those idiot agency's cowboys are still losing...
Ever since that female teen gave that horrible statement in front of congress describing in detail how she was abused by Koresh -- and did it without any pauses, and completely absent of any emotion -- I've questioned whether this claim was a complete fabrication not unlike the babies in the incubator story about how evil the Iraqi troops were, designed to turn political opinion in favor of the US government. Maybe he was that bad, but I wouldn't take the gov's word for it. This was the FBI, after all, and we know how much they can be trusted from Trump to the Bundy case. And oh yeah, the FBI lost all that video evidence of the initial Waco raid just like they lost a bunch of text messages recently. In any event, regardless of how bad he may have been, Koresh could have been picked up while jogging or in town without doing a "formal" raid on the "compound". But the ATF wanted a big show and, well, they got one.

I do not go to church every time the doors are opened, but I love Jesus Christ. I am only human and fail Him daily. I believe Jesus is the Son of God, was born of a virgin, was crucified on a cross, died for my sins and rose from the dead and that He loves us dearly, and is faithful to forgive us of our sins. Koresh was undoubtedly a perv with a taste for young girls. That didn't warrant massacring the entire Branch Davidian compound. The cops knew he went to town regularly, often for a haircut. He could easily have been arrested away from the property.

There were no gun violations. The davidians had a federal firearms license for what they were doing. Furthermore, there was no warrent present to serve. It was was forgotten and left back on a desk in the hurry to go play shoot-em-up.
