CAMBRIDGE, Mass.A Massachusetts state senator who injured two people in a hit-and-run accident has pleaded guilty and been sentenced to six months home confinement. Sen. Anthony Galluccio, a Democrat from Cambridge, pleaded guilty Friday to leaving the scene of an accident in the Oct. 4 crash in Cambridge.
The 42-year-old has said he made a "serious error in judgment" when he drove away after his SUV rear-ended another vehicle. A 13-year-old boy and his father received minor injuries.
In Cambridge District Court Friday, Galluccio said he deeply regrets his actions.
The judge ordered Galluccio to surrender his driver's license for five years and submit to random alcohol testing.
While he is on home confinement, Galluccio can still attend formal Senate sessions and votes.
