Awkwardly funny... For SOME reason, Al Franken as self-proclaimed "Senator from Minnesota" denies a stunned Senator Liebermann "a moment" to finish making a point. (Did I mention Liebermann was stunned??) John McCain takes the Diapered SNL Senator to task in his defense of his pal Liebermann, claiming he's "never" seen anyone denied like that in his 26 years in the Senate. NO fistfight or chair-breaking ensued. Not even any sarcastic reference to "my good friend across the aisle."
Bravo Franken, Bravo. Lieberman is getting the level of respect he deserves. Anyone who pushes for a bill that has a mandate to force you to buy private insurance deserves little ot know respect. The republicans on this board are always arguing against the redistribution of wealth.This is one of the biggest transfers of wealth from the middle class and lower class to the Health Insurance companies through taxation and force by the Federal Government. I thought you guys opposed redistribution, if so, you should support Franken in telling Lieberman to shut up. Lieberman is just lobbying for the Health Insurance Companies. He has his right to spew his venom, but he certainly shouldn't be extended the courtesy of more time.
I don't know if this is related or not, but I heard Limbaugh talking yesterday about the whole Senate "read the amendment on the floor" situation.
Apparently, Senate rules state that any senator can call for a bill or an amendment to be read on the floor (which is what Sen. Coburn did regarding the Sanders amendment). Once that happens, it takes a UNANIMOUS vote to STOP the reading.
Well, now that the 60's dropouts are in charge, the hell with Senate rules. (rules are for the establishment, anyway. Hey wait! WE'RE the establishment now. no matter)
So the reading of the amendment was arbitrarily stopped with NO vote taken.
McClown probably had some residual anger about that.
What I find ironic is this: the Senate clowns of the R party historically have had NO problem twisting and crapping on that insignificant little document known as the CONSTITUTION. Oh, no, that's okay.
But break the Senate rules? NOW we have a problem.
The science is settled, peer-reviews are complete, and the debate is over: Al Gore IS a fraud and an idiot.
