I think the Dims were unhappy in part because the vast majority of people will be seeing the tax cut in their paychecks starting tomorrow.
Some whose companies were better organized or connected started doing their payrolls with the new tax tables about 10 days ago. Initial reporting was people seeing an extra $50-$100, some a good bit more. Some people had been told to expect their health insurance to go up $100 per paycheck and it rose only $20.
Anyway, the Dems threw down on the tax cuts, calling it "crumbs", etc. And every Dim voted against it. So now there will be an abrupt collision of the Dems with some cold hard truths with the voters.
And their Russia-Russia-Russia narrative is falling to pieces.

Yup, the "crumbs" narrative only served to discredit Dems and erode their cred even more. AS the "RUSSIA RUSSIA!" hoax simultaneously collapses.

By making it so large - all 1.8M eligible illegals instead of the 800K who actually applied for it - perhaps Trump is trying to look benevolent while proposing something he knows can't pass.
