Granted it was a bit tedious, and relied too much on emotional examples of patriotism..
But overall Trump did well, and I think the boorish and irrational reactions/responses from the democrats will, in time, make it better received than most of his speeches..

Yeah, I've never much like using those "heroes" as emotional props. But in certain cases they are necessary and effective.
I concur on your characterization and prediction that the Dems will wind up looking like petty idiots with their inevitable boorish, irrational responses.
The positive results of Trump's policies are tangible and actually felt. Unlike 0bama's negativity and nebulous "accomplishments" based on tribalist rewards/punishments.
