Not according to no less an authority than a Catholic Priest when I was in the army. I was processing back into Ft.Bragg from VN,and had to process through the Group Chaplin's office as a part of the regular routine. He asked me what religion I was,and I told him "I guess I am a Protestant because my parents were Protestants." That was when he corrected me and told me I was a Heathen. I told him "Fine with me. Change my religious preference to Heaten in my records then so I don't have to deal with people like you in the future. He refused to do that,so I went to personnel and officially had my records changed to show my religious preference as "Heathen".
