As the world's leaders come together to try to hammer out measures to fight global warming, they are not forgetting to take time out to live it up. Junketeers at the UN climate summit in Copenhagen -- many of them from developing nations -- are enjoying luxuries like limos, private jets, and fancy gourmet food while claiming that the world is going to hell in a handbasket because of our consumption.
"We haven't got enough limos in the country to fulfill the demand," car-service manager Majken Friss Jorgensen told The Daily Telegraph.
"We're having to drive them in hundreds of miles from Germany and Sweden."
While US drivers may be forced to face carbon taxes, conference junketeers don't care how much gas they guzzle.
Jorgensen's company alone provided 200 limos, while some 1,200 have been ordered to fill the city street with choking smoke.
The event -- which has been touted by some as the most important meeting about the environment ever -- is attracting junketeers from all corners of the world, may of whom are not major leaders.
The city's $1,000-a-night hotels are all booked up, and the summit is featuring menus with extravagant items favored by the rich and gluttonous such as caviar, foie gras and scallops. The nation's famous hookers are even giving away free samples to anyone with conference credentials.
