Bruce Springsteen posted a statement on his Web site urging support of the gay marriage bill that's up for a vote in New Jersey's Senate on Thursday. Springsteen wrote that he's long believed in and has "always spoken out for the rights of same-sex couples." The native son says he agrees with Gov. Jon Corzine that marriage equality is a civil rights issue. Gov.-elect Chris Christie is a big Springsteen fan. The Republican has said he would veto the bill. A state Senate committee approved the bill by one vote on Monday. The first mention of marriage, (Genesis 2:24), describes it as a man leaving his parents and being united to his wife. In passages that contain instructions regarding marriage, such as 1 Corinthians 7:2-16 and Ephesians 5:23-33, the Bible clearly identifies marriage as being between a man and a woman. Biblically speaking, "marriage" is the lifetime union of a man and a woman, primarily for the purpose of building a family and providing a stable environment for that family; NOT contortionist semantics based on the lie of "rights," so-called "enlightenment," or "freedom." The Bible alone, however, doesn't even have to be used to demonstrate this understanding of marriage. The biblical viewpoint of marriage has been the universal understanding and tradition of marriage in EVERY human civilization in world history. As for "kill the faggots", the reference was to the Leviticus "abomination" stuff. The chapter of Leviticus is no doubt un-PC, setting up some rather harsh penalties for definitive "abominations". The opinion of God hasn't changed though.... In the last part of Revelations God discusses further "Abominations" for which the penalty is far worse; Denial into His Kingdom. IF I've been wrong about my characterization of your opinion mirroring Franks', then just say so and an apology will be forthcoming.
