911 Title: Tokyo-bound flight diverted back to LAX after 'unauthorized person' discovered on plane (Boarding Pass Scanners Fake) LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A flight bound for Tokyo's Narita Airport Tuesday made a U-turn back to Los Angeles International Airport after an "unauthorized person" was discovered aboard in an apparent mix-up. a flying first for me: 4 hours into an 11 hour flight and we are turning around because we have a passenger who isnt supposed to be on this plane. Why...why do we all gotta go back, I do not know christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) December 27, 2017 So many questions and I have no answers. Either do they. This person must be mortified though christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) December 27, 2017 They keep saying the person had a United ticket. We are on ANA. So basically the boarding pass scanner is just a beedoop machine that makes beedoop noises that register to nowhere christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) December 27, 2017 Police were interviewing all the people seated around the mystery person once we got off the plane. Why would they do this! I MUST KNOW MORE christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) December 27, 2017 My first tweet cant be more epic than this: just survived an 8-hour LAX-LAX flight with @chrissyteigen and @johnlegend on #ANA #NH175 pic.twitter.com/yY0vIqfcja Raffy (@Raffywu) December 27, 2017 Post Comment Private Reply Ignore Thread Top Page Up Full Thread Page Down Bottom/Latest Begin Trace Mode for Comment # 2.

It would have been much more reasonable for the plane to just continue to Japan. That way only the single errant passenger is inconvenienced (especially since s/he already missed their intended flight) instead of everyone else. The flight was nearly half way there anyway. There should have been no security concern as the passenger presumably went through regular security.
I agree they should have continued their flight plan and then dumped the errant passenger into the sea. No one would ever know what happened then.
