Mexican Invasion Title: Campus Leftists Tear Down Kate Steinle Posters at UC San Diego Campus Leftists Tear Down Kate Steinle Posters at UC San Diego by Joel B. Pollak 20 Dec 2017 Left-wing students at the University of California San Diego tore down posters featuring the late Kate Steinle, the 32-year-old who was killed by an illegal alien in sanctuary city San Francisco in 2015. But instead of punishing them for violating free speech rights, the universitys Office for the Prevention of Harassment & Discrimination is reportedly investigating Gregory Lu, the student who put up the posters, for bias. The College Fix reported Wednesday: On the evening of Dec. 7, Gregory Lu hung 150 posters of Steinles smiling face with the words She had dreams too in highly traversed areas across campus that other students typically hang items on, such as bulletin boards and the free speech area. Four days later, an investigator with the Office for the Prevention of Harassment & Discrimination emailed Lu asking to meet with him. Our office received an online incident report and I would like to schedule a time to speak with you about it. Are you free this week by phone or in person, the investigator asked in his email, a copy of which was obtained by The College Fix. Lu, who has since reportedly contacted an attorney, told the College Fix that he was certain the investigation was related to the posters. All of the posters were torn down, apparently, as Lu was followed by students as he put them up. The posters were sponsored by a new student group called Right Wing West, which Lu is part of, according to the College Fix. Right Wing West posted video of left-wing students tearing down posters of Steinle at the University of Washington. The campus chapter of the College Democrats had condemned the posters in a statement released on Facebook, calling the posters racist propaganda that target[ed] undocumented students. The College Democrats further said that the posters intended to stoke racial hatred, create feelings of intimidation, and incite fear, and that the posters inflict[ed] violence. Last year, a student newspaper sued the University of California San Diego after the publication was defunded by the student government, following an issue in which it mocked safe spaces and trigger warnings. In 2015, the student government at the University of California Irvine voted to take down an American flag that had been displayed in a student center, saying that the flag created a hostile environment and that it was a tool to silence people. Correction: This article originally stated that video footage showed the posters being torn down at the University of California San Diego, but in fact the video showed a separate, similar incident at the University of Washington in which the posters had been put up by the College Republicans.
