I have had bad pain in my groin region for a number of weeks. I thought it was a pulled groin muscle. But then, I noticed a large lump in my groin area. From all I knew, I thought it was was a hernia or some kind of lymphoma.

I went to the doctor who agreed it was a hernia (they examined everything, to my embarrasment).

I'm not sure how I should proceed at this point.

Do what your Doctor advises. Or, go to another Doctor & get a second opinion. I would rather have the advice of a medical professional than from some old farts on a chit chat channel forum.

I know one guy who had one repaired using some sort of synthetic mesh, about 15 years ago. No problems since.

Get your doctors advice and go for it.

I have one on my navel. I've had it for several years. They can be repaired. I haven't bothered yet. I understand that if the tissue gets cut off in blood flow it can become necrotic and I could die. I'm going to die anyway, sooner or later, so it doesn't really make THAT much difference.

Still, you, and I, both, shoulg get the things treated. Time was when these things were untreatable. But that time is long past, so we may as well avail ourselves of the blessing of modern medicine, yeah?

I had two of them 20 years apart.

They really didn't bother me, but I knew they wouldn't repair or heal themselves - so I had them taken care of rather than waiting until they got the size of oranges. I had the low ones - left and right side.

Have it taken care of.

My last one, they gave me strict instructions about no food or liquids for 10 hours or whatever. After the surgery they said they'd release me after I took a wee wee. I was dehydrated and it took a good while until I could. They gave me 4 ounces of drinks at a time.

When the nurse or whoever offered to put a catheter in me, I said Eff no. I urinated eventually.

Edit: The most recent one I had for at least 8 years and I wanted to get it repaired and heal while I still "young" rather than waiting.

I use to like him as an actor, until he started doing those stupid "Meet The Parents" movies with that no-talent hack Ben Stiller.

I will say one good thing about DeNiro - he has been getting a lot of flack from the MSM and libs in general for his outspokenness about vaccines.

I had two lower abdominal hernias one on my lower left side that bulged out just above next to my pecker and a second one a year later on my lower right side. I had a highly experiened surgeon repair the one on my left side. It worked out perfectly. I was assigned a resident VA surgeon for the right hernia. He repaired it and I've from chronic acute constipation since then. Make sure you get a good experienced surgeon at least 45 years old to do the job.

I'm not familiar with hernias; however, we did have and did observe a bleeding hemorrhoid living, eating and shitting in the White Hut for eight agonizing years.

Liberals are like Slinkys. They're good for nothing, but somehow they bring a smile to your face as you shove them down the stairs.

I had an adult umbilical hernia (next to the navel). It was corrected by outpatient surgery in the doctor's ofice using a local anesthetic. The surgeon pushed back the protrusion through the muscle wall and then tied the muscle together.

Quick and painless. That was 20 years ago and no problems since.

I have had bad pain in my groin region for a number of weeks. I thought it was a pulled groin muscle. But then, I noticed a large lump in my groin area. From all I knew, I thought it was was a hernia or some kind of lymphoma.

A friend had his outie navel corrected about 2.5 months ago. It didn't bother him too much day to day but it needed correction. My brother had the same procedure a few years back. They both had big pot bellies and it caused their navels to go outie. They were both glad to have gotten the procedure. My brother had had quite a bit of pain with his.

The same friend who had the navel corrected also had had a hernia he has increasingly suffered with for 4-5 years. He drives a truck part-time and he was getting to the point that sometimes he would almost double over from the pain, was nervous about how much he was eating, what he was eating, just kind of paranoid about eating because of fearing a flareup from the hernia. It was good only in that he did lose weight, over half of his pot belly disappeared. He had good results from the hernia operation which was performed by a local surgeon after the VA doctor got him approved for surgery. He had to be fairly inactive for a week or so and not exert himself but was allowed to take a short walk once or twice a day. He did well with this and only had some intermittent minor pain if he overdid it a little. So he took his grandson to the park and the kid really wore him out and he had a bit of a setback in his healing and felt very weak and had some pain for a few days. I told him not to screw around so much because he didn't want to have to have the procedure done again. So he waited to romp with the kid for some weeks while he healed more. He's doing pretty well now, about two months after the hernia surgery. He's eating better, not afraid of doubling over or having other complications from the hernia so he is very glad he had it done. He's about 73 or 74.

If you think you're a little heavy, you might try to lose a bit of weight as well but it won't cure a hernia. Having extra pressure pushing on the abdominal wall just makes the symptoms worse and can make the hernia get bigger. Avoid bad lifting or the kind of lifting that forces you to really lock those lower abdominal muscles while exerting. I suppose your doc gave you this advice and more already.
