The World Health Organization (WHO) has officially given the tick of approval to cannabidiol, a relaxing compound in medical marijuana, ruling it is not a dangerous drug.

The compound, also known as CBD, can be an effective treatment for cancer, Alzheimer’s, epilepsy and in palliative care, with WHO now ruling it does not have any risks of addiction.

The ruling means that it should not be a scheduled drug – meaning that it is not drug that has a high potential for abuse or is illegal to manufacture or distribute.

WHO Expert Committee on Drug Dependence announced: “Recent evidence from animal and human studies shows that its use could have some therapeutic value for seizures due to epilepsy and related conditions.

“Current evidence also shows that cannabidiol is not likely to be abused or create dependence as for other cannabinoids (such as Tetra Hydro Cannabinol (THC), for instance).”

The organization is now set to launch a more complete review in May next year to look into cannabis and cannabis related substances.

Currently anyone found possessing cannabis can be sentenced to a maximum of five years in prison, an unlimited fine or both punishments under UK legislation.

Supplying or producing the class B drug can land people in prison for a maximum of 14 years an unlimited fine, or both.

There has long been an argument to legalize the drug to help people with chronic pain and anxiety.

Medical marijuana has no health risks: WHO

The headline is a lie.

First, they were referring to cannabidiol (CBD), a chemical compound found in marijuana. Second, they never said it had no health risks or that it wasn't a dangerous drug.

They said that once extracted from marijuana, purified and concentrated, it "could have some therapeutic value for seizures due to epilepsy and related conditions".

Who?

Whoever they are, they're obviously wrong: I've seen marijuana destroy some of my closest friends and members of my own family. If their studies show that it doesn't do that, they need to recalibrate their studies, because obviously it does.

The headline is a lie.

Keep going. The first sentence is also a lie….a big lie. It states:

The World Health Organization (WHO) has officially given the tick of approval to cannabidiol, a relaxing compound in medical marijuana, ruling it is not a dangerous drug.

Woah….hold on! There is nothing to get all excited about here, folks. The author said “tick.” Well, the definition of tick is:

A mark (✓) that shows that something is correct or has been done.

So by saying “tick of approval” the author is trying to get you to believe that something is absolutely correct and has definitely been done. Right? That is what is happening? Sure it is.

Well, that is simply not true and “tick of approval” is used here as some magical play on words to try to mask a big seeded implication behind it.

That the article starts off being misleading in the first sentence and states something that is not true should and must send up caution flares.

Let’s get the straight skinny. And what better place is there to do than to listen to the spokespeople for the WHO.

Spokespeople for the WHO issued a statement (to Newsweek) to specifically show that the report clearly:

Does not say that WHO recommends the use of cannabidiol.

The only thing WHO was saying and does recommend:

Is that cannabidiol should not be scheduled for international control on the basis of current evidence, and that a fuller review will be carried out next year, when other cannabinoids are discussed.

Well, old Deckard has gone and done it again.

What we have here, folks….is just some more yellow journalism shit that Deckard is trying to spoon feed you in his role as a advocate for the legalization of all drugs.

Stop buying into Deckard’s bullshit….if that’s what you are guilty of doing.

That parallels what many of us have seen.

That parallels what many of us have seen.

Which is why the tide of public sentiment is always set against drug legalization, and why even when it is legalized, there is always a steady pull to restrict it again.

People are not dumb. They see what happens to friends and family. When "science" yammers at them that what they see with their own eyes "isn't really true", people reject the science (and science overall is diminished in its authority). You really can't piss on people's shoes and convince them it's raining,
