Badlands -- Bruce Springsteen

I can't stand that asshole these days. I don't know when he became a card carrying leftist turd, but he did. However he had 2 great albums in the late 70s/early 80s about life in middle America. This is is one of the better rock songs ever. It was released as a single, but never cracked the top 40.

WOLD -- Harry Chapin

By all accounts, Harry Chapin was a good man. I have no idea what his political or religious beliefs were but I think he honestly wanted to help others.

His biggest hit was "Cats in the Cradle," which is okay if you like that kind of maudlin crap. He also had the hit "Taxi," and that was also okay, although I wasn't impressed by the reference to drug use.

WOLD was a wonderful song. It told the story of a man who wanted to get involved in the radio business, and after many years found it wasn't what he might have expected.

London Town -- Paul McCartney

Most of the stuff Paul McCartney recorded after leaving the Beatles was garbage. I mean they did quite well on the charts, but they were still garbage. This was his best other than "My Brave Face."

You might try to check your political bigotry at the door...or you might miss out on some truly awesome American rock and Roll.

The Boss has been giving 100% for 40 years and it just keeps getting better!

You may not love a song, but you've got to love the passion -

On the other hand, you could continue to be envious of his success, his influence on our culture, and his commitment to what he believes. That's on you.

You might try to check your political bigotry at the door...

As in, "Self-censor your opinions that liberal-Marxists are millionaire hypocrites?"??

When Springsteen shuts the h*ll up about injecting his own "political bigotry" into his shows, you *might* have a fair point.

Do you think it's fair to pay $100+ per ticket to listen to The Boss stop singing to shove his Leftist opinions down his audience's throat? Fair to rail on abut Climate Change, voting against Republicans, "gun-control," or promoting progressive Marxism as his limo is parked outside the Arena and he returns home to his mansion, serviced by a small army of illegals and armed guards?

I always thought "Darkness on the Edge of Town," and "The River" were great albums. Then he came out with "Born in the USA." He has lost me ever since.

It was the same way with George Carlin. I always thought he was uniquely funny. I went to a concert of his in the early 90s. He had some funny lines, but then went into a long rant against conservatives and capitalism. Sorry George, but you just made my unlistenable list.

I agree -- "Darkness" and "The River were both excellent albums.

I found even "Born In The USA" to be a good album (I did hate 'Born In The USA' single.) It wasn't nearly as good as either Darkness' or 'The River', but by that time Springsteen had already done four great albums ('Born To Run' and 'Wild Innocent and E Street Shuffle'.)

From that 'Born In The USA' album:

My Hometown
I'm On Fire
Glory Days
Cover Me
Dancing In The Dark

Everything AFTER that album IMO is bad. Except for one stand out track, 'Brilliant Disguise'.

Music is like food, isn't it? Taste and mood are relative up to individuals. To a point.

Rap is universally CRAP and not even "music." Pop music during the last 20 or so years has been controlled by Dark Forces.
