Roger Goodell: NFL fans don’t come to stadiums ‘to be protested to’

Jason Rowan

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell perhaps made his strongest remarks regarding the league’s national anthem protest controversy by stating, “People come to our stadiums to be entertained and have fun, not to be protested to.”

Goodell was a speaker at Bloomberg’s The Year Ahead Summit in New York on Wednesday and to no surprise the polarizing anthem protest issue was addressed.

Goodell opened his remarks by expressing a preference for players to stand during the anthem.

“I think that’s one of the things I think when we have a platform the way we do people seek to find that division and I think that’s something we try to resist,” Goodell said, via SB Nation. “And in this case I’ve been very clear about this — the anthem, the respect for our flag is very important. So I want to see our players stand.”

Goodell’s comments at the forum echo what he said in October about the protest issue. Goodell stated at the time the NFL would not ban players from protesting during the anthem but would continue to “encourage them to stand.”

Goodell also reiterated during the summit that the NFL prefers to avoid politics, a sentiment he has previously expressed, especially in light of President Donald Trump waging an all-out war with the league over the issue.

“I think you’re getting into something, getting into politics is not something we do,” Goodell said. “Values aren’t necessarily about politics. Values are the way you do things and I think we want to make sure we do things at the highest standards. And I think people expect us to.”

Goodell sought to highlight how the league’s owners attempt to heed player concerns on issues such as social justice and community-based activism.

“I’m proud of our players for that and proud of our owners for listening, supporting them and trying to give them a platform in which to make improvements in our society, which we’re all about and do that in a way and get beyond what we call ‘protest to progress’,” Goodell said.

Why Roger, I'm always entertained whenever I watch a football game. The difference is that this year, I'm not watching YOUR games. Between prep football on Friday nights and college football on Saturday afternoons, I've already watched eight quarters by the time Sunday rolls around. Thanks for caring, though.

“People come to our stadiums to be entertained and have fun, not to be protested to.”

The inmates are protesting the flag, the anthem, and the nation. The fans have voted by reducing viewership by 20% since the start of the 2016 season, and staying away from the stadiums.

“And in this case I’ve been very clear about this — the anthem, the respect for our flag is very important. So I want to see our players stand.”

It's very important, just not important enough to tell them to do it.

“I’m proud of our players for that and proud of our owners for listening, supporting them and trying to give them a platform in which to make improvements in our society....

Because NFL kneelers are known for making improvements to our society.

Amen.

That number should rise in the future; I'm sure half who go just don't want to waste their expensive tickets while attending their Church of NFL.

IMO, Whitey ain't never coming back. Goodell's crocodile tears and Jones' sudden cure of blindness are waaay too late.

Right. I'm sure the vets will call off their nationwide Veterans Day boycott of the NFL scheduled for Sunday.

Boycott on, NFL games off this weekend at Polish American Vets club

By Jerry Lynott - jlynott@timesleader.com

PLAINS TWP. — The eight televisions at the Polish American Veterans club will be on Sunday afternoon. They just won’t be tuned to any football games.

The club is participating in a nationwide boycott of NFL games over the Veterans Day weekend in reaction to players kneeling during the national anthem.

The players say it’s a way to bring attention to what they allege is unfair treatment of minorities by law enforcement.

Club commander Jerome Majeski sad Wednesday his organization wants to be part of a united stance against the protests, which many see as disrespectful to the flag and anthem.

“Our reason for doing this is because we want to join with the other veterans organizations throughout the United States that are doing the same thing,” said Majeski, 72, a Marine Corps veteran from the Vietnam era and retired state trooper.

Boycott The NFL is promoting the protest on a Facebook page and encouraging people to neither watch nor listen to the games “in solidarity with veterans around the country, as football players have continued to disrespect the national anthem, the American flag, and everything our nation stands for.”

When the inmates stand because they are forced to do it, they become no more respectable or acceptable. As long as the cast is a group of anti-American thugs, and the NFL has the same management that enabled their behavior, it will be very difficult to bring back the former fans who have been insulted every Sunday afternoon and three nights a week.

Dats a fack, Jack.

FORMER fans can not, nor will not tolerate this SPIT-IN-YOUR-FACE insult by BLMers. Watching with incredulity as Goodall and NFL owners enabled what can only be construed as "HATE," CONTEMPT and DISHONOR, millions of us who've been die-hard fans are truly N-E-V-E-R returning to watch NFL. Do they realize the extent of blowback, or do they just not care?

White Fans used to be willing to give the benefit of doubt and a mulligan to what were a sizable but somewhat disciplined hostile black players (like the Bennett brothers), but now that the cat is fully out of the bag that a vast majority of NFL-BLMers HATE Whitey and HATE America while totally disrespecting the US Military, there ain't no going back.

Moreover, the NFL is not only heavily damaged as the biggest spectator sport in the USA (and some say, a brainwashed cult of sorts), so too is its free-wheeling license to continue promoting and spewing straight-up Social Justice Warrior propaganda every Sunday, Monday and Thursday.

As a bonus of further collateral damage to the SJW war offensive, ESPN and other so-called "sports" programs were totally exposed as nothing more than progressive propaganda shows.

Those who most loudly denounce Fake News are typically those most aggressively disseminating it.

Vegas has every kind of bet on the Superbowl. I'm wondering what the odds will be on the total number of players kneeling.

My guess: 5

Roger is a lefty and earns over $30 million annually.

Which is beyond inexplicable...

...UNLESS, hidden PTB intended eventually to use the tainted-now-and-forever NFL as mostly a political-propaganda tool with which to indoctrinate and promote the BLM-Gay-Muzzie-Leftist Agenda. Goodell is being compensated to be the Admiral of a Titanic that is already sinking.

The NFL had gotten to the point where tens of millions of men on both sides of the political spectrum were tuning in as a matter of un-thinking, second-nature habit. Fall Sundays were monopolized by...NFL Football for DECADES. It was a form of hypnotism, and even a form of worship/religion.

Goodell and BLM did us all a favor. This entire sordid episode and the Truth of the matter FREED us.

They're not inmates, they are highly paid entertainers, -- supposed professionals there to do a job. Being told to stand for opening ceremonies (and our Anthem) is acceptable.

I go to the stadiums,or watch on tv, to be entertained and have fun, not to be protested to.
