A 17-year-old Burkburnett man reportedly fled an injury accident and was allegedly found with marijuana and other contraband in his vehicle.

Johnny Edward-Cole Blevins is charged with delivery of marijuana – a state jail felony. If found guilty, he could face up to two years in a state jail facility.

Blevins was out of the Wichita County Jail Saturday on $5,000 bail after being arrest on a warrant issued for the alleged drug offense on Wednesday.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit:

Around 4:21 p.m. on Oct. 22, Burkburnett police were sent to the area of the rest stop along Interstate 44 for a reckless driver.

A red Hyundai was reported as coming into Burkburnett from Wichita Falls after being involved in an injury accident in the Wichita Falls city limits.

A second caller reported to law enforcement that the driver of the vehicle was all over the roadway and the front bumper was dragging.

Several moments later, Burkburnett officers saw the same vehicle, which had "significant front-end damage" travelling northbound on I-44 at Daniels Road.

As they stopped the vehicle near Gilbert Creek, dispatch advised them the driver was a young white male and possibly armed.

The officers gave the driver, later identified as Blevins, instructions to place his hands out of the driver window, to which he complied.

While at the vehicle, the officers smelled the strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Blevins' eyes also appeared "to be red and glassy."

Blevins was detained and the vehicle was searched based on the probable cause of the marijuana smell.

During the search, officers located a large sum of money thrown in the driver seat and floor board, two cellophane baggies of a green leafy substance behind the front passenger seat, and a black backpack in the back seat.

The backpack contained several items of drug paraphernalia, including a grinder, Swisher Sweets, a narcotics scale, a marijuana lanyard and a prescription bottle of Ambien. The prescription was in the name of a different person.

Officers also found a chrome .22 caliber revolver concealed underneath Blevins' driver seat.

Blevins was placed into custody on charges of possession of marijuana, unlawful carrying of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance.

While at the police station, officers field tested the green leafy substance, which rendered a positive result for marijuana. It weighed a total of 2.91 ounces.

Blevins' phone, which was in his possession at the time of the arrest, also kept "going off and popping up Facebook messages on the lock screen from several individuals." The messages referred to drug transactions.

The cash, which was counted at the Burkburnett police station, totaled $2,336 and was placed on hold pending seizure as evidence.

A 17-year-old Burkburnett man reportedly fled an injury accident and was allegedly found with marijuana and other contraband in his vehicle.

Interesting he is a 'man', not a 'teen' or a 'youth'.

Given the charges, they may be planning to prosecute him as an adult. Certainly, you could make the argument that he has gone well beyond juvenile criminal infractions.

A boot camp facility would probably be better than a county jail, state prison, or a reform school environment.

Via their mugshots record, we can see he was charged with "POSSESSION MARIHUANA >2OZ, UNLAWFUL CARRYING WEAPON, POSS CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE PG 3, POSS CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE PG 3". But there are links there to other arrests. Like this one from September 2017 for "BURGLARY OF HABITATION".

A budding career criminal judging by these records.

A boot camp ...

A boot up his ass would be a good start.

I see now his burglary arrest in September (see above). Maybe a state prison is warranted.

Blevins was placed into custody on charges of possession of marijuana, unlawful carrying of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance.

What about fleeing the scene of an injury accident and driving while impaired?
