A Green Bay Police officer has attracted national attention for one simple act of kindness. Last Monday, the department got a call from a local elementary school saying one of its students hadnt been picked up at the end of the day. When Officer Darryl Robinson arrived at the school and learned that it was also the childs birthday, he did what he could to make sure the kid enjoyed his special day. p> Using coupons given to the department by a local McDonalds, Robinson treated the child to a birthday dinner and then took him on a ride around.
The child was later returned to his family once they were located.
The Green Bay Police Department recognized Robinson in a Facebook post, which has since received thousands of shares.
Yesterday Officer Robinson responded to a local elementary school for a child that was not picked up at the end of the school day. The parent is incarcerated and there were no other known family contacts. It was also the child's birthday.
Thanks to the owners of our local McDonald's, we were given free cheeseburger coupons to hand out in certain situations. Officer Robinson took the child for a meal at McDonald's and a ride around in the police car for his birthday. Family was eventually located and the child was dropped off.
Thank you to community partners, like McDonald's, that allow us to help out others in small ways during our interactions throughout the shifts.
Thank you to Officer Robinson for taking some extra time to celebrate the child's birthday; we are proud to have him as part of the GBPD team!
Thank you, Officer Robinson, not only for serving your community, but for reminding us there are still decent people in this world.
