Country music star Brad Paisley performed the national anthem before Game 2 of the World Series between the Houston Astros and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Paisley delivered a powerful, understated rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner," with some country-tinged guitar licks at the beginning and end of the song.
Paisley, who's a Dodgers fan, said it was "incredible" to perform the anthem at Los Angeles' Dodgers Stadium.
"The trick with something like this is to put your heart in it," Paisley said. "The national anthem, because everybody does it, it feels like a cover. But if you actually just stand there and put your heart into it and try to deliver this for America's pastime at the World Series ... that's what I think translates."
Paisley is gearing up to host the 2017 CMA Awards on November 8. He and co-host Carrie Underwood will return to emcee the annual ceremony for the 10th year in a row. Paisley is also scheduled to perform during the the show. He and Kane Brown will sing Paisley's newest single, "Heaven South."
The Series is tied at one game apiece. Game 3 will take place Friday at Houston's Minute Maid Park. The performer for the national anthem has yet to be announced.
