The National Archives and Records Administration is releasing documents previously withheld in accordance with the JFK Assassination Records Collection Act. The vast majority of the Collection (88%) has been open in full and released to the public since the late 1990s. The records at issue are documents previously identified as assassination records, but withheld in full or withheld in part. Learn more

This July release consists of 3,810 documents, including 441 formerly withheld-in-full documents and 3,369 documents formerly released with portions redacted. The documents originate from FBI and CIA series identified by the Assassination Records Review Board as assassination records. More releases will follow.

Other than being awfully sensitive about the word 'kook' and bitching about quoting the word 'Breaking' in the title, do you have any relevant comment?

You can find the page at National Archives. I'm including this info here so you get some idea of the file sizes and types. I did not doctor the links here so you need to visit the Archive.gov page to download them.

. . .

To view the entire file, you may visit the National Archives at College Park and request access to the original records.

Accessing the Release Files

Each release file is a ZIP file containing copies of the records and a corresponding XLSX spreadsheet with metadata about each file.

To access the files, you will need:

  • decompression software such as WinZip to “unzip” the contents
  • software such as Adobe Acrobat to view the PDF files
  • software such as Windows Media Player to listen to the WAV files
  • software such as Microsoft Excel to view the XLSX spreadsheet

Once a file has been unzipped, use the XLSX spreadsheet to understand the content and context of each file.

When haven't they gone ape, with or without cause?

They found it on a stretcher at the hospital, so it's got to be the one that killed JFK, right?

It would seem to defy reason for many people but bullets do have to end up somewhere. Sometimes, it is in an improbable location.

Maybe we'll get more answers about the Magic Bullet from the document dump.

The release of the files was supposed to be in July but they were held while Trump made a decision due to requests from CIA/FBI. Anyway that is my understanding from earlier reports about it. They're called the July files because when these files were segregated (again) back in the early Nineties, they were officially scheduled by law for release in July 2017.

Go kook yerself.

Funny how you're kooky enough to claim the files have been released, seeing that the news organizations are headlining that they are 'Awaiting Release of Classified JFK Files'.

It seems the Archives went ahead and announced their release but the FBI/CIA are still lobbying for Trump to censor some of them.

Trump was busy all afternoon with the opioid thing and simply hasn't been available to sign the document releases.

Someone familiar with the files from FBI says a lot of CT kooks (my term) will be disappointed because there's not much in them. Most of it centers around Oswald's alleged trip to Mexico just prior to the assassination.

I don't think so. Apparently Trump was supposed to sign this morning but went off on his opioid jihad without signing them. So the archives jumped the gun with their announcement, it seems.

I'm laughing about the fact, which you posted as 'Breaking News', that the records were being released today. ---- Now you post that most aren't.

2800 of the 3810 documents are being released today. So 73% are being released in full today. It isn't clear if any more will be released or when and whether they will be redacted. I'm not sure if Trump will have to go back to Congress to sequester them if they are to be held for a number of years. That is what they did back in the Nineties when they sequestered all of these 2017 files.

Despite many years of being on these forums, you apparently still do not understand the term "Breaking News". It means that an article is an initial report and that more details will certainly follow. "Breaking News" never means that it is the full and final story.

As for my use of it, I merely quoted the title of the excerpt exactly as I found it over at HotAir. You may recall that a lot of people object to retitling articles in any way and I rarely alter them. When I do alter them, I nearly always place anything extra in square brackets [].

But congrats you've dragged this thread to 20 posts and still have said nothing of any substance at all.

As it turns out, Trump is releasing several hundred more files now. So 78% of the tranche instead of 73%.

DailyWire: BREAKING: Trump Releases 3,000 Docs On JFK Assassination, Keeps Hundreds Secret

Citing "potentially irreversible harm to our Nation's security," President Trump delayed the release of hundreds of files related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, while the National Archives released 2,981 documents in accordance with the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992, which required that all assassination records be fully disclosed and available no later than 25 years after the enactment of the act.

According to the White House, the FBI and CIA made numerous request to withhold some of the files, in violation of the 1992 law. Adding to the confusion, the decision comes just one day after President Trump tweeted, "The long anticipated release of the #JFKFiles will take place tomorrow. So interesting!"

“I remember it was a beautiful fall day,” recalled Aubrey Irby, the former Kiwanis vice president. “George had just started to give his speech when Smitty, head bellhop, tapped me on the shoulder to say that President Kennedy had been shot. I gave the news to the president of the club, Wendell Cherry, and he leaned over to tell George that wires from Dallas confirmed President Kennedy had been assassinated.“George stopped his speech and told the audience what had happened. ‘In view of the President’s death,’ he said, ‘I consider it inappropriate to continue with a political speech at this time. Thank you very much for your attention.’ Then he sat down. I thought that was rather magnanimous of him to say and then to sit down, but I’m a Republican of course, and I was all for George Bush. Kennedy, who was bigger than life then, represented extremely opposite views from Bush on everything.”

Oops I meant this

Barbara begins to describe that fateful day on page 59 of her memoirs:

On November 22, 1963, George and I were in the middle of a several-city swing. I was getting my hair done in Tyler, Texas, working on a letter home.

Here are some excerpts:

The following is how the excerpts appear in the book, ellipses and all.

Dearest Family,Wednesday I took Doris Ulmer out for lunch. They [Al and Doris Ulmer] were here from England and they had been so nice to George in Greece. That night we went to . . .I am writing this at the Beauty Parlor and the radio says that the President has been shot. Oh Texas – my Texas – my God – let’s hope it’s not true. I am sick at heart as we all are. Yes, the story is true and the Governor also. How hateful some people are.. . . Since the Beauty Parlor the President has died. We are once again on a plane. This time a commercial plane. Poppy picked me up at the beauty parlor – we went right to the airport, flew to Ft. Worth and dropped Mr. Zeppo off (we were on his plane) and flew back to Dallas. We had to circle the field while the second presidential plane took off. Immediately Pop got tickets back to Houston and here we are flying home. We are sick at heart. The tales the radio reporters tell of Jackie Kennedy are the bravest I’ve ever heard. The rumors are flying about that horrid assassin. We are hoping that it is not some far right nut, but a “commie” nut. You understand that we know they are both nuts, but just hope that it is not a Texan and not an American at all. I am amazed at the rapid-fire thinking and planning that has already been done. L.B.J. has been the president for some time now – 2 hours at least and it is only 4.30.

My dearest love to you all,

Bar

Anyone who gives a shit can go to #7 to see what your original page linked to, -- not that anybody cares.

You've made a fool of yourself, but that's old news.
