This July release consists of 3,810 documents, including 441 formerly withheld-in-full documents and 3,369 documents formerly released with portions redacted. The documents originate from FBI and CIA series identified by the Assassination Records Review Board as assassination records. More releases will follow. Poster Comment: Get your kook on! The National Archives and Records Administration is releasing documents previously withheld in accordance with the JFK Assassination Records Collection Act. The vast majority of the Collection (88%) has been open in full and released to the public since the late 1990s. There was some question as to whether Trump would change him mind. I also wanted people to know where to get the actual files if they want to kook their way through all those documents and audio files.

The release of the files was supposed to be in July but they were held while Trump made a decision due to requests from CIA/FBI. Anyway that is my understanding from earlier reports about it. They're called the July files because when these files were segregated (again) back in the early Nineties, they were officially scheduled by law for release in July 2017. Go kook yerself.

It seems the Archives went ahead and announced their release but the FBI/CIA are still lobbying for Trump to censor some of them. Trump was busy all afternoon with the opioid thing and simply hasn't been available to sign the document releases. Someone familiar with the files from FBI says a lot of CT kooks (my term) will be disappointed because there's not much in them. Most of it centers around Oswald's alleged trip to Mexico just prior to the assassination.

I don't think so. Apparently Trump was supposed to sign this morning but went off on his opioid jihad without signing them. So the archives jumped the gun with their announcement, it seems.

2800 of the 3810 documents are being released today. So 73% are being released in full today. It isn't clear if any more will be released or when and whether they will be redacted. I'm not sure if Trump will have to go back to Congress to sequester them if they are to be held for a number of years. That is what they did back in the Nineties when they sequestered all of these 2017 files. Despite many years of being on these forums, you apparently still do not understand the term "Breaking News". It means that an article is an initial report and that more details will certainly follow. "Breaking News" never means that it is the full and final story. As for my use of it, I merely quoted the title of the excerpt exactly as I found it over at HotAir. You may recall that a lot of people object to retitling articles in any way and I rarely alter them. When I do alter them, I nearly always place anything extra in square brackets []. But congrats you've dragged this thread to 20 posts and still have said nothing of any substance at all.

The National Archives will release 2,800 records on Thursday, with the remaining documents remaining secret for the time being.
