Title: Bannon blasts George W. Bush’s presidency (FR wises up)

It wasn't very long ago that Hopalong was banning people for saying what's now pervasive in the comments sections. I was one of them.

The almost-always grift is running at about the same slow pace as usual, FYI. The last grift-free break between grifts was 8 days at the end of September.

---------------

Former White House adviser Steve Bannon says there has not been a more destructive presidency than George W. Bush’s.

Bannon delivered a scathing criticism of the former president after Bush this week denounced bigotry in Trump-era American politics, warning that the rise of “nativism,” isolationism and conspiracy theories have clouded the nation’s true identity.

Bannon told a capacity crowd at a California Republican convention in Anaheim that Bush “embarrassed himself.”

In his remarks in New York, Bush warned of a nation in which discourse has been degraded by “casual cruelty,” where bigotry is emboldened.

Bannon says Bush has no idea whether “he is coming or going, just like it was when he was president.”

It's funny that I have yet to see a single person post (on any thread, not just this one) "Hey, didn't ol' RimJob ban a lot of people for saying exactly these things?"

What most don't realize is, --- JR never did care about whatever was said, as long as his "core group" wasn't upset, and kept the money coming in...

Roger that.

You've just crystallized what no one has ever said, but has ALWAYS been the case.

That included Dubya's special "Mysterious Texan" and his $$$$ who always seemed to nudge JR over the top during the days when Stalin...er...I mean JR and his henchmen/women were Zotting patriots for opposing the Mexican Invasion.

They have long memories and hold grudges. Me too.

There is literally no place in the same party for the Bushite crony- capitalist/open borders/free-trade/forever-wars-to-keep-contractors- happy/eliminate estate taxes type of "conservative" and me.

They cross all of my third rails. Crony capitalism MEANS destroy the small entrepreneur with regulations and taxes that are designed to do just that: destroy them, leaving their market share to the politically connected big players who provide regulations.

Open borders means that my fellow Americans are out of work by the millions, and always will be. So does "free" trade.

War is bloody and horrible. When you have to do it, you declare, go total, win it as fast as you can, and remake whatever you conquered into something that will never again be a threat (to wit: Germany, Italy, Japan, the American Indians, the various European colonizing states). Going in with limited forces timidly is a prescription for killing and maiming people on an ongoing basis forever with no peace, at great profit to contractors and immense misery and expense to everybody else. It is an EVIL way to fight a war, because it's PURPOSE is to maintain steady state war to maximize economic profits to war stockjobbers. THAT ALONE is grounds to throw a party out of office and really detest the people who run it, because we are talking about destroying the lives and families of American soldiers in hopeless, endless wars, so that somebody can make a profit and hold power. People like that are the ones who should be shot and have their eyes gouged out and legs blown off, not our grunts in the field. This is why wars need to be DECLARED, so that the gamesmanship stops and the population focuses, politically, on the war. Taxes are hiked massively in wars, because the war effort is more important than personal LIFE, and THEREFORE is MUCH more important than any notion of mere personal economic profit. Declaring wars puts them in their proper perspective: as superior in importance to private enterprise "for the duration". Of course, that aligns incentives properly, because people who want to get on with profit making will EITHER resist declaring war AT ALL, and we will stay at peace, OR, if war is necessary, they have a strong incentive to press for it to be WON as fast as possible.

Our politicians, Republicans and Democrats, have instead created a new situation in which we can engage in forever war "police actions", without declaring them, so that war profiteering and political patronage can be distributed lavishly, the world can feel American power. That all sounds great, but the PRICE paid for it is the death and maiming of tens of thousands, then hundreds of thousands, over time, American boys and girls, and millions of enemy civilians. It is pure evil, and the proponents of that approach should LITERALLY be lined up and shot for crimes against humanity. The way we fought the Vietnam War - and the War on Terror - is a crime against humanity. It's a crime against our own people, our soldiers, sailors and airmen. It's a murderous disgrace, and it is FOR THE ECONOMIC BENEFIT of certain other Americans. The politicians who have orchestrated this are evil war criminals who should be put to death, as should the influence peddlers who pay those politicians to implement these policies.

But, since we have no constitutional means of bringing true justice to these war criminals, we have to focus on wiping them out of power and flushing them down the political toilet. We will leave it to God to bring them ultimate justice in the end when they die for their greedy murders.

Their endless, relentless drive to eliminate the estate tax upon themselves, were they ever to succeed, would result within a generation in a hard- ceiling economic nobility that would be unremovable through the normal political process.

Now, I don't think that most American Republican conservative rank-and-file voters realize that they are footsoldiers in a political army that has all of those terrible objectives. I think, for example, that virtually every conservative who posts on this site, and most of the posters on FR, are middle class or working class conservatives who have a conservative mindset, and who follow the Republicans because the Republicans SAY they are conservative - and at least they're not Democrats! But I don't think that the typical conservative voter connects the dots and realizes all of the evil he has bought into by buying into this party.

I think, rather, that most of you guys recognize the bad that's there, but really believe that you have some sort of fighting chance of taking over the party and expelling the control of the billionaires at the top of it. For their part, the billionaires are not at all stupid, and they recognize that they need your votes to keep coming in in order to prevent the government from going over to Democrats, but they have no intention of ever giving you ANY of the key policies that you want.

You voted for Trump for a Border Wall: the Republicans will never give you one, not ever.

You voted for Trump to repeal Obamacare: the Republicans will not do it.

You voted for Trump to rein in "free" trade and bring American jobs home. Trump did what he could by killing certain agreements, but the legal structure can only be changed by Congress, and they never will change it, not ever.

You did NOT vote for Trump for "sweeping tax reform" - that was NOT a key plank of his platform. The only thing he talked about was lowering corporate taxes to bring money home.

But the Republicans are SAYING that you gave them a mandate - so they can take away your home mortgage deduction and take away your state income tax deduction - but then also erase the estate tax on the rich. In other words, when it comes to taxes, Republicans are enthusiastically doing what they do, and pretending that the election was all about this, and that you support it. You shouldn't. It would be far better to leave the tax code exactly as it is, and only insist on the cutting of the corporate taxes that Trump campaigned on (NOT reducing taxes on wealthy individuals, but on corporations that employ people) than to let the Republicans have what they want. Middle class and working class Republican rank and file are being led down the primrose path by the Republican Party again. If the Republicans succeed and manage to get their tax breaks for the wealthy through, along with all of the other crap they want to do, then the future of those middle class and working class conservatives will be worse than it is now...and the Republican propaganda machine will have done an excellent job in causing you to blame the Democrats for your pain.

It's a cynical scam that is not at all in your best interests. But most of you hate ME because I say these things and tell you to STOP DRINKING THE REPUBLICAN KOOL-ADE.

You're like lemmings leaping off the cliff when you follow these guys.
