Former President George W. Bush delivers remarks "The Spirit of Liberty: At Home, In The World" at the Bush Institute Summit in New York City.
I think he nailed it, the most coherent he has ever been, no teleprompter and no misplaced remarks. Now if Trump had given that speech he would have railed against China, NK, Iran, Russia and stirred everyone to anger, but George singled him out speaking about bullies

To me he sounded the most incoherent he has ever been.
He sounded exactly like Hillary and Obama. The US was NOT founded on multicultural, freedom-for-all principles. Until 1965 when LBJ got a wild hair up his butt, only Christians and Jews were allowed into our great nation. And that is WHY it was great. Since 1965 our nation has steadily been going to hell and now our nation is experiencing living hell. The "freedom of religion" clause our forefathers placed in the constitution refers to the freedom to join whatever Church (or synagogue) we want to join. All of our founders had nothing but bad, very bad things to say about Muslims and when they drew up the immigration law(s) they specified that only residents of Christian nations would be allowed into our nation. I am pretty sure they rolled over in their grave when we let Muslims in. We-- mostly the Democrats--brought 9/11 upon ourselves. Dubya should be ashamed of himself for agreeing with the Democrats and wash his mouth out with soap.

no, he was presidential, maybe for the first time in his life. He recognised that to get the job done you need the goodwill of both sides. It is a shame that when he had that goodwill he squandered it on war
Weve seen nationalism distorted into nativism forgotten the dynamism that immigration has always brought to America. We see a fading confidence in the value of free markets and international trade forgetting that conflict, instability, and poverty follow in the wake of protectionism.
I thought conflict, instability, and poverty resulted from eight years of Bush/Cheney and the Neo-cons. I must have missed the economic victory party thrown in October 2008.
I do remember the declaration of mission accomplished for ridding the world of non-existent weapons of mass destruction.
Our identity as a nation unlike many other nations is not determined by geography or ethnicity, by soil or blood. Being an American involves the embrace of high ideals and civic responsibility. We become the heirs of Thomas Jefferson by accepting the ideal of human dignity found in the Declaration of Independence. We become the heirs of James Madison by understanding the genius and values of the U.S. Constitution.
Not this crap again.
Jefferson was a slave owner, tended to by his slave Jupiter while he spruced up the words of George Mason for a political call to arms. Madison was a slave owner. Washington was a slave owner until the day he died.
And the Constitution recognized and protected slavery.

We profess to have no taste for running and catching niggersat least I profess no taste for that job at all. Why then do I yield support to a fugitive slave law? Because I do not understand that the Constitution, which guarantees that right, can be supported without it.

You have got to be kidding. The whole reason his brother Jeb could not get nominated for President is because he constantly repeated the same old BS that Dubya is now regurgitating. America (or at least us Trump supporters) are not buying that anymore. Dubya's views, along with his brother's (and Hillary's and Obama's), are very soon going to end up in the trash-heap of history. If you don't believe it, just hide and watch.

It is sad to watch someone be on the wrong side of history. You want to rewrite history into a trumpian utopia, but history shows us that despots like Trump are the ones consigned to the waste basket. You haven't realised it yet but Trump is a waste of space, a moron who is only interested in his self image
what made him unelectable wasn't his brother's shadow or Cheney, he just wasn't up to the moment. You need more than a name to get elected, something Dilliary hasn't realised. The Bush's might have thought they had a dynasty going, but it didn't work for the Kennedys, it didn't work for them and it didn't work for the Clintons
