Title: Black Lives Matter shouts down ACLU: 'You protect Hitler, too!

A celebration of free speech at William & Mary College in Virginia took an unexpected turn last week when protesters from Black Lives Matter swarmed the stage and forced organizers to end the event.

The disruption occurred before Claire Guthrie Gastañaga, executive director of the ACLU of Virginia, could give a planned speech on freedom of expression.

The protesters livestreamed the demonstration on Facebook and were heard shouting other slogans, including, "The oppressed are not impressed!,” “Blood on your hands!,” and “The revolution will not uphold the Constitution!”

The ACLU earned the wrath of the protesters after they defended white supremacists' right to march in Charlottesville, Va., in August, according to the campus's Flat Hat News. The march in Charlottesville quickly turned violent, leading to the death of one woman and injuries to many others.

Gastañaga tried to point out to the disruption as an example of why she needs to talk about freedom of expression on university campuses, saying “Good, I like this,” as the protesters raised their signs.

"I'm going to talk to you about knowing your rights, and protests and demonstrations, which this illustrates very well," she said. "Then I'm going to respond to questions from the moderators, and then questions from the audience."

But the protesters continued the disruption and barred anyone from approaching Gastañaga to speak. One organizer reportedly granted the demonstration's leader a chance to speak.

“When is the free speech of the oppressed protected? We know from personal experience that rights granted to wealthy, white, cis, male, straight bodies do not trickle down to marginalized groups. We face greater barriers and consequences for speaking,” the protester said.

William & Mary College President Taylor Reveley issued a statement afterward, saying silencing others was “not acceptable in our community.”

“This stifles debate and prevents those who’ve come to hear a speaker, our students in particular, from asking questions, often hard questions, and from engaging in debate where the strength of ideas, not the power of shouting, is the currency,” he added.

“William & Mary must be a campus that welcomes difficult conversations, honest debate and civil dialogue.”

The Black Lives Matter protestors don't realize what they are doing, but it is clear now that they have doomed their movement to being crushed.

They have managed to offend the entire spectrum of American politics that matters.

Of course they already hate the far right and the right. That's no different from any other Democratic activist group.

But the BLM folks have taken it three steps farther. They have taken on the power structure of the Democrat Party by shouting down Nancy Pelosi in a town meeting. They have taken on the lawyers by shouting down the ACLU, and they've taken on the whole American people - and severely damaged the NFL economically - with their national anthem protests.

So they've alienated everybody with power, including their own natural political allies. What do they have left? The radical left of the blacks, which constitutes perhaps 2% of the population. They've enraged a good 85-90% of the people and have the support of 2-5%

That's a prescription for surefire irrelevancy in this democracy of ours.

The New Left (old Marxists, Occupy Wall Street, pipeline protesters, Black Lives Matter, SJWs, Bernie bros, hypertriggered social media junkies of the Perpetually Offended class) are eating the old center-Left liberal establishment.

This indicates a lot more dissent in Dem ranks than we've seen in a long time. The Dem base is as unhappy with their party as the GOP base is with the GOPe.

It's good for the GOP that the Dems are so divided generationally or the listless do-nothing GOP Congress would be in major trouble in 2018. Of course, the GOP can still find plenty of ways to lose in 2018 so we shouldn't lose confidence in their track record.

The American people, broadly speaking, want the government to provide defense, police, roads, education, retirement (Social Security), health care for retirees, and welfare for the people who need it.

They don't mind adventures in space even though it's costly.

Both parties used to deliver these goods, and either party could. But neither party does a very good job of it lately. Instead, they fight about symbolic issues that cater to the intense passions of fringes, but don't deal with the basic, non-negotiable bottom line of what Americans want.

So people are unhappy with both parties, and are likely to stay that way, because neither party shows any sign of changing for the better. They are capable of getting worse. There's no real downside limit on awful - things can always get worse.

It seems like they fight bitterly even about things that they virtually agree on. There's a lot of bad blood in D.C., especially among the geriatric senators. They really hold the grudges.

Make them do ACTUAL filibusters to maintain a filibuster. No "filibuster by proxy". Make them have to stand there and physically endure the grueling marathon. And when they falter for an instant, pounce like hawks and get cloture. Use their age and physical infirmities against them. Literally physically wear them out.

If they want to be obstructionist, let them, but force them to do ti with their BODIES - force those old creaky bags of crap to actually have to STAND THERE and TALK continuously. Let them do it until one of them literally collapses, and then step over his twitching corpse to call for a cloture vote.

And then IMMEDIATELY rush forward the next controversial bill. Do not give their weak old bodies a respite. Make them have to do a continuous filibuster for two years, or until enough of them die on the Senate floor that they can't maintain a filibuster anymore.

Take off the gloves and make them talk themselves to literal death. Make them pay for their obstructionism with their lives. Make them pee down their own legs. No respect, no mercy. And exploit every weakness. When one cannot go on, ram through the bill.

They are old men. They are proud and arrogant. They can be broken by physical pressure. Put it on them by revoking the fake filibuster. Make them have to stand and talk continuously for two years - or until enough of them collapse under the fatigue that they become compliant.

They want the power to talk a bill to death -then make them do it. Talk - to death. Chances are that after a few months the deaths will be their own, and through natural attrition the ability to maintain a filibuster will be ended.

We need fresh blood in their. Incumbents are unremovable. But old men can be worn out and wiped out by making them actually stand there and talk for weeks. Their arrogance is strong, but their bodies are weak. So exploit their physical weaknesses. Let a few have strokes on the floor. Let them fail one by one in pools of drool, piss, shit and vomit.

If they won't yield, then make them talk until they die heroes to their cause. And when one falls without yielding, sieze the floor and call for cloture.

And when the partisans go to their guy's funeral, bring up another issue in regular order.

All nice, tidy, legal and vicious.

Use the Senate rules to bring them to heel through physical conquest. Make them suffer. Make them pay.

There would be huge crying over the lions of the Senate, blah-blah-blah.

These are the people most to blame for what has happened to the country, the unwon wars, the monstrous debt and entitlement crisis, the bitter partisan hatred across the country.

So I would have no problem with it. You notice, no doubt, that Rand Paul and Ted Cruz, both known for the longest filibusters in decades, seem to have little interest in filibustering again.

Yeah, they're never going to do it. Essentially, things are going to muddle along unsatisfactorily for centuries.

There comes a point to cut bait and start thinking of other things.

The filibuster is unpopular because they don't want to wear urinary leg bags. Even the CSPAN hardcores are creeped out by it.
