United States News Title: Detroit Lions Owner Bribes Players To Stand For National Anthem The Ford family has absolutely no idea how to own an NFL team, despite owning the Detroit Lions since 1963. In that time the Lions have been the most pathetic franchise in all of professional sports. Current owner Martha Ford is unlikely to turn the team into a powerhouse, but at least she has found a dumber and more expensive way to make them an even bigger laughingstock. Following the shame of NFL players kneeling during the National Anthem, Ford has said she will pay players to stand. Yeah, she’s going to bribe her employees to be respectful and decent people. Two games ago, in response to President Trump calling out disrespectful behavior, Martha Ford went down on the field and linked arms in solidarity with the Lions players to show that she and the team hate our country and leader. When she figured out that fans are disgusted by this unpatriotic display, and may hurt attendance and her bank account, she changed her tune and decided everyone should stand during the Star Spangled Banner. The problem is, she already established that she’s cool with protesting whatever the hell they are protesting, so how can she get these millionaire ingrates to stand in respect for a couple of minutes? The solution is quite simple according to The Detroit Free Press: Days after linking arms with players during the singing of the national anthem, Detroit Lions owner Martha Ford asked her team not to kneel for the playing of the song during a team meeting last week. In exchange for finding a different way to protest racial injustices around the country, Ford said she would be willing to donate both money and her name to community issues at the heart of the players’ cause. And while this may seem like Ford is just going to donate to charity if players stop acting like assholes, something running back Ameer Abdullah said makes me think this is more of an Al Sharpton-style shakedown. “We do dance around the topic a lot and Mrs. Ford has come forward and said that as long a we compromise as a team and unify and make a unified demonstration, she’ll back us financially. So I’m definitely going to hold her to her word,” said Abdullah. Back them financially? Doesn’t Ford already do that by playing these otherwise unemployable scumbags millions of dollars to play a game? This plan is apparently already working. Two weeks ago against the Atalanta Falcons 9 Lions took a knee during the National Anthem. On Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings only 2 players took a knee. Speaking of which, here’s how completely bullshit this taking a knee protest is: Only two of those players, linebackers Steve Longa and Jalen Reeves-Maybin, took a knee for the playing of the anthem Sunday, while the rest of the team linked arms on the sideline. Longa’s father was struck by a car and killed last week. He kept his head down in prayer for the duration of anthem, and defensive end Cornelius Washington said “there were probably alternate reasons for” both Longa and Reeves-Maybin taking a knee. “Those couple guys got some private stuff going on in their lives so that’s more than likely what it was,” Washington said. Gee, I thought these protests were about racism and police brutality, but now they are just whatever thing is making the players sad. For the record, the United States of America didn’t kill this player’s father so protesting the anthem in this case is actually even more stupid than the standard Kaepernick knee-taking. Many liberal communities have experimented with zero success to pay street thugs to not commit crimes. Martha Ford appears to be trying a similar thing, the only difference being her thugs are millionaires and she’s paying them to show a small bit of respect for the country that made them rich. Do the Lions ever win anything? Aren't they just a joke to the public and some kind of tax write-off for the Ford heirs?
