Breitbart: NBA Memo: Players, Coaches Must Stand for National Anthem or Face Consequences Deputy commissioner Mark Tatum warned teams that “the league office will determine how to deal with any possible instance in which a player, coach, or trainer does not stand for the anthem,” according to the memo obtained by ESPN. The memo also states that individual teams “do not have the discretion to waive” the NBA rule that requires players, coaches, and staff to stand for the national anthem. If players violate the rule, the league will make the judgement call on how to discipline them and not the individual teams, according to the memo.
Still waiting for Oakland game. :-)
Hopefully they won't frag their own quarterback. Again.
How many are standing and linking arms -- which is similarly disrespectful?
I haven't seen any counts yet. I was interested also if the Steelers and Broncos and Packers, all committing to standing, would use that just to link arms as a micro-protest. If they all did the hand-over-heart, then it is over and Trump wins the pot. So I'm waiting to see how they stood for the anthem, just like you.
Searched and found this, someone using their phone or tablet to capture their network broadcast. I see no linked arms on either team. Talented trio singing from what I heard though. I'd guesstimate more hand-over-hearts than just standing and more so on the Steelers team. Doesn't erase the fact that doing a pre-anthem kneel by the Ravens got massive booing from the Ravens fans in their home stadium. And the Ravens still got their asses kicked.
Briefly, the Ravens doing a pre-anthem kneel for ~15 seconds and getting booed. Aw, dey held each others' little hands.
Yes Ravens, those booing you pay your salary.
The NBA sent a memo to all teams Friday warning players and coaches that if they do not stand for the national anthem, they will face consequences.
