Trump Says He’ll Work With Democrats on Health Care

President plans an executive order on insurance ‘across state lines’

Here it is - This will begin the move toward "Medicare for All"

Comrade 45 lies a lot, but he did promise Universal Health Care...

"...When he was a presidential candidate in 2015, Trump told CBS's Scott Pelley on 60 Minutes that "everybody's got to be covered." He conceded that it may be an "un-Republican" thing to say, but he wanted to ensure that everyone had quality health care..."

Everybody's got to be covered ... how? Why do you assume, "... by the federal government"?

There's no need to turn the entire health care system upside down to address the needs of the 10% who are uninsured. And how many of those uninsured want to pay for health insurance?

Everybody's got to be covered ... how?

Yes, everyone must be covered.

How? A little less than half of the entire population is already covered by a plan that is paid for by tax dollars. (Federal, State, County, Municipal, military, Medicare and Medicaid.)

The other half (all of us working people) are already paying for the other half and ourselves!

Simply enroll everyone in Medicare and stop paying for private insurance. Any person of normal intelligence can understand that the cost would be far lower without including the overhead and profits of the insurance industry and big Pharma.

Why the Federal Government?

Because medical care for profit has been a gigantic failure.

Healthcare is an imperfect market. It does not behave according to free- market models. Americans access healthcare when necessary - not because they wish to.

There's no need to turn the entire health care system upside down to address the needs of the 10% who are uninsured.

It's not the 10% uninsured - It is the 48% who are already paying for 90%

Not true. According to http://www.kff.org/other/state-indicator/ total-population

49% Employer
7% Private (non-group) insurance
19% Medicaid
14% Medicare
2% VA
9% Uninsured

Medicare is paid for with payroll deductions plus private insurance. That leaves Medicaid and VA which is 21% paid for by tax dollars.

Good try, these payroll deductions area tax. You also must take into consideration all the State, County, and municipal employees! Tax dollars directly pay for their benefits.

I enjoy turning this issue upside down and sideways in an effort to flush out pros and cons.

the bottom line is this: The cost of healthcare increases every year, making it more and more difficult for us to afford. This cannot continue. Guaranteeing every citizen excellent quality care at a greatly reduced cost would go a long way toward making America great - as 45 likes to say.

A tax which in then refunded in the form of health insurance.

I see. So they're going to give up their insurance for a Medicare-type program? Gosh, if it's that easy, let's do it today! They're government employees -- simply tell them that effective Monday, they're all on Medicare.

Refunded?

If you're suggesting that "MY" 1.45% (plus my employer's match) goes to pay for "MY" health insurance, you would be nowhere near the truth.

It goes directly to pay the claims of current medicare recipients.

Gosh, if it's that easy, let's do it today!

Soon!

Fine. A tax which is then indirectly refunded in the form of health insurance.

Yes just like the income tax withheld from our paychecks is indirectly "refunded" in the form of salary and benefits for congressmen and senators......
