Trump Says He’ll Work With Democrats on Health Care

President plans an executive order on insurance ‘across state lines’

Here it is - This will begin the move toward "Medicare for All"

Comrade 45 lies a lot, but he did promise Universal Health Care...

"...When he was a presidential candidate in 2015, Trump told CBS's Scott Pelley on 60 Minutes that "everybody's got to be covered." He conceded that it may be an "un-Republican" thing to say, but he wanted to ensure that everyone had quality health care..."

Everybody's got to be covered ... how? Why do you assume, "... by the federal government"?

There's no need to turn the entire health care system upside down to address the needs of the 10% who are uninsured. And how many of those uninsured want to pay for health insurance?

Everybody's got to be covered ... how?

Yes, everyone must be covered.

How? A little less than half of the entire population is already covered by a plan that is paid for by tax dollars. (Federal, State, County, Municipal, military, Medicare and Medicaid.)

The other half (all of us working people) are already paying for the other half and ourselves!

Simply enroll everyone in Medicare and stop paying for private insurance. Any person of normal intelligence can understand that the cost would be far lower without including the overhead and profits of the insurance industry and big Pharma.

Why the Federal Government?

Because medical care for profit has been a gigantic failure.

Healthcare is an imperfect market. It does not behave according to free- market models. Americans access healthcare when necessary - not because they wish to.

There's no need to turn the entire health care system upside down to address the needs of the 10% who are uninsured.

It's not the 10% uninsured - It is the 48% who are already paying for 90%

Did you see this May 22, 2017 headline?

California’s single-payer plan costs $400 billion — twice the state’s entire budget

I did not see that headline.

Here is a little more detail:

However, a report by professors at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, commissioned in part by National Nurses United, estimated that after taking in the savings of single-payer, such as lower administrative costs and prices of pharmaceuticals, the actual cost of the plan would end up at around $331 billion. And, because 70 percent of the state’s current health care spending is covered by public programs like Medicare and Medi-Cal, California would only need to come up with $106 billion in new revenue, which researchers proposed could be done through two new taxes (a 2.3 percent gross receipts and sales tax), with exemptions for small businesses and tax credits to offset costs for low-income families. In exchange, nearly all of Californians’ medical expenses would be covered, doing away with premiums, copays, and deductibles.

I bet the plan would end up costing them $600 billion instead of $400 billion, just like their road projects.

But before that could happen, California would slash coverage and services up the ying-yang. They'd institute surcharges for smokers and the obese. They'd institute a special "medical tax" on everything unhealthy -- soda, chips, candy, ice cream, etc.

Put the government in charge of healthcare and they will go crazy.

Put the government in charge of healthcare and they will go crazy.

While not perfect, Medicare works pretty well - not really crazy.

Besides - this will be the opportunity to "do it right" in the first place.
