Title: Anthony Weiner Sentenced to 21 Months in Prison

Anthony Weiner was sentenced to 21 months in prison for exchanging sexually explicit messages with a 15-year-old girl, capping the spectacular fall of the former congressman whose self-destructive behavior wrecked his career and marriage and played a role in the final days of the 2016 presidential campaign.

A tearful Weiner told U.S. District Judge Denise Cote that “the crime I committed is my rock bottom.” He was ordered to surrender to prison on November 6.

“I was a very sick man for a long period of time, but I am also responsible for the damage I have done,” he said. “I have no excuse.”

Weiner pleaded guilty in May to one count of transmitting obscene material to a high-school girl in North Carolina. An FBI investigation into Weiner’s sexually explicit messages turned up emails that had been sent to his wife, Huma Abedin, then a top aide to Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. That prompted the FBI to reopen its investigation into Clinton’s use of private email server while serving as Secretary of State.

“This is a serious crime that deserves serious punishment,” Cote said as she handed down the sentence. “She was a minor. She was a victim. She is entitled to the law’s full protection.

‘Uncontrolled Sickness’

Joon Kim, the acting U.S. attorney in Manhattan, said, “Anthony Weiner, a former Congressman and candidate for mayor, asked a girl who he knew to be 15 years old to display her naked body and engage in sexually explicit behavior for him online. Justice demands that this type of conduct be prosecuted and punished with time in prison.”

Weiner, who faced as long as 10 years, had asked Cote to sentence him to probation. His lawyers said in court papers that the crime was a result of "an uncontrolled sickness" and the "profit-seeking curiosity" of the high-school girl, who contacted him in hopes of generating material for a book she is currently shopping to publishers. He said he hoped to avoid prison to continue with treatment and to help raise his five-year-old son.

Prosecutors asked for a prison term of 21 months to 27 months, which they had agreed to as part of a plea deal with Weiner. Weiner must register as a sex offender and will forfeit his iPhone.

As part of the government’s investigation of Weiner’s messages to the girl, FBI agents seized his laptop computer, which had Clinton’s emails to Abedin. On Oct. 28, 2016, FBI Director James Comey told Congress that the agents were reviewing the emails to determine whether they were relevant to the separate investigation of Clinton’s use of a private email server, throwing the election campaign into turmoil.

Two days before the election, Comey told Congress Clinton wouldn’t face any charges relating to the emails. In her book on the election, Clinton blames Comey, in part, for her loss to Donald Trump.

The former Secretary of State also detailed in “What Happened” Abedin’s reaction on hearing the news.

"When we heard this, Huma looked stricken," Clinton wrote. "Anthony had already caused so much heartache. And now this."

"‘This man is going to be the death of me,’ she said, bursting into tears."

Leniency Bid

Abedin, who is divorcing Weiner, wrote one of about 45 letters submitted to the sentencing judge, from politicians, family and other sex addicts, in support of his bid for leniency.

Weiner, 53, began his political career as an aide to then-U.S. Representative Chuck Schumer, a Democrat who is now a Senator from New York. Weiner won a seat on the New York City Council in 1991 at 27, and was elected to Schumer’s former House seat in 1998.

Weiner was re-elected six times but was forced to resign in 2011 after admitting to “inappropriate conversations” with six women during three years, including on Facebook, email, Twitter and on the phone.

In 2005, he made an unsuccessful run for mayor of New York and tried again in 2013. That bid was ruined when news broke that Weiner, using the alias "Carlos Danger," had sent explicit pictures to an Indiana woman.

Poster Comment:

It can be argued convincingly that Carlos Danger was more instrumental in defeating Shitlery's than anything the Russians tried to do.

What's funny is the 15-year-old set him up.

This innocent 15yo knew she was stripping and touching herself via Skype with an ugly perv who was a grown man.

She really is not a victim of any kind IMO. Not that I'm sorry to see Carlos Danger go to prison. He was guilty of many many crimes over the years and deserves it, much as OJ Simpson wasn't especially guilty in the memorabilia scam that he was convicted for but there was some justice for his victims when he went to prison too.

BTW, that little sow should be charged with child pornography as well.

Nope. Not at all. And I don't think she's claiming to be one.

Now, now. On the contrary. She deserves the Medal of Freedom -- she single- handedly put Weiner in prison AND the subsequent investigation led to the defeat of Hillary in the 2016 election.

Maybe we can get Bill to present it to her, alone, in the Oval Office.

It's close to lunch. Please don't use the term 'single-handed' in a sentence about Weiner or I will lose my appetite.

She arguably did manage to do what Monica Lewinsky, Linda Tripp, Ken Starr, the Vast Ring Conspiracy and RimJob at FreeRepublic could not: keep a Xlinton out of the White House. And she wasn't even really trying.

Give her the medal. In prison. It's a win-win.

Yeah, that's right. Play the old "the bitch dun set me up,your honor!" card with a female judge. You are in your 50's and she is 15,so it obviously wasn't YOUR fault that YOU asked her for photos to choke your chicken by.

What could possibly go wrong with THAT strategy?

I'm betting you would have to point a shotgun at him to get him to mention the world "Hillary",though. Even Weiner ain't that stupid.

In the entire history of the world, the only nations that had to build walls to keep their own citizens from leaving were those with leftist governments.

So what? Are you trying to claim "the little bitch done made him do it!"

She is 15! 15 year olds are not expected to have the same good judgement someone in their 50's has.

I dunno. Are you trying to claim a 15yo doesn't know she isn't supposed to strip naked and touch herself on Skype when some old perv asks her to so he can whack off?

She isn't innocent.

I'm claiming the typical 15 year old lacks the judgement to make rational decisions about things like this, but men in their 50's are expected to know better due to their life experiences.

She isn't innocent.

Compared to Wiener she is.

I am not attacking you here,I am asking a serious question. Do you think it should be legal for adult men to have sexual relations with 15 year old girls?

Yes,or no?

In the entire history of the world, the only nations that had to build walls to keep their own citizens from leaving were those with leftist governments.

Of course not.

Would you agree that it should be entirely legal for a boy to have sexual relations with a 15yo girl the day before his 18th birthday but that he would be criminally liable and prosecuted for child molestation if he did the same sex act with her on the day of his 18th birthday?

Yes or no?

Yes or no?

No.

Sadly,I worked with a guy in Denver that was on a work-release program from the Colorado State Prison for that very "crime". The difference was in his case he was 18,and his girlfriend was 17 when he was caught having sex with her on her living room couch. Her father was prominent, and he insisted on pressing charges of statutory rape, and got his wish.

IMHO,the DA that accepted this travesty of justice as well as the judge that handed down the sentence were both guilty of a greater crime than he was.

The FACT is that girls mature quicker than boys. Don't blame me,blame nature. The typical 15 year old girl is as aware,or more,of the realities of life than the typical 20 year old boy/young man.

This is NOT the case when the girl is 15 and the male is 53,though.

In the entire history of the world, the only nations that had to build walls to keep their own citizens from leaving were those with leftist governments.

The law does not deal well with what is or is not "typical" at a particular age. It ends up being arbitrary and rather fluid.

True. Law is a formal thing, sealed in concrete. It is impossible to write any law that is fair to everyone that will be charged with violating it.

That's why DA's and judges have discretion. Damn shame they are usually both political creatures with ambition and no balls.

In the entire history of the world, the only nations that had to build walls to keep their own citizens from leaving were those with leftist governments.

We probably mostly agree. Such laws are extremely difficult to write and enforce unless we are willing to tolerate a segregated society and a genuine police state.

I bet he gets into a Club Fed. College classes, cable TV, private room, etc.

I doubt he ends up in a real federal penitentiary.

There will be an arrangement. Weiner is a made man with Schumer and the Xlinton crime family. As long as he doesn't talk...

Poor stupid, leftist Weiner. He's so stupid he pronounces his name WEENER, when, due to the arrangement of the 'e' and 'i' in his name it should be pronounced 'whiner'. Regardless, this fool will never be called a 'winner'.

He'll have plenty of time to enjoy a jailbird's version of sex while in the slammer.

He'll have plenty of time to enjoy a jailbird's version of sex while in the slammer.

He'd request protective custody and he would get it in a real prison. He'd be lonely but probably not sexually abused. He's a made man politically and he'll be protected. The last thing they want is for him to come out of prison telling tales of how he was gangraped and no one did anything to help him. So they'll segregate him.

Most likely, it's a Club Fed for him. He'll likely go to Cumberland in Maryland since he got far less than 10 years and was not convicted of a violent crime.

WaPo, 2015:

A prison sentence is called “hard time” for a reason — there’s nothing cushy (and definitely no high thread counts) at even the low-security prisons where many a VIP has done time. But with celebrity convicts in the news, like “Real Housewife” Teresa Giudice (she began her 15-month sentence Monday) and former Virginia governor Bob McDonnell, whose sentencing is Tuesday, there is renewed interest in what life is really like on the inside.

“It’s kind of like a junior college setting,” explained Larry Levine, director and founder of Wall Street Prison Consultants, which advises clients before going into lock-up. “I don’t want to call it a stress-free environment, but it’s a lot of hanging out with the other inmates, you know, just bull—-ing.”

Levine, who served 10 years in federal prison for racketeering, among other charges, said that a typical day at a low-security prison camp starts with wake-up call a 6 a.m., a mad dash to the overcrowded bathrooms (“You never want to be the last guy in the shower stall–ever”), breakfast at 7:15 a.m., work duty, lunch, more work, a head count at 4 p.m., mail call, dinner an hour later, free time, another head count, then lights out at around 11 p.m. It’s not girl scout camp, but it’s not HBO’s jailhouse drama “Oz” either.

“It’s like a boring Groundhog Day,” Levine said.

The Federal Correctional Institute in Cumberland, Md. is the go-to for white-collar Washington criminals. Disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff and former Clinton administration official Webb Hubbell served time at Cumberland, where prisoners are free to leave the premises to do yard work and the like, as long as they return.

One top D.C. defense attorney said his clients describe Cumberland as a “boys dormitory” with food that’s “nothing to write home about.” It’s got a commissary (where canned tuna — which, oddly, is used as a kind of currency in the camp — is sold) and a bare-bones fitness facility. The biggest perk, though, is that prisoners tend to be on their best behavior for fear of being sent somewhere rougher. “Nothing bad happens to you there,” said the attorney.

Danger, according to Levine, is the big difference between a “supermax” penitentiary and the type of prison camps with no barbed wire perimeter fences which convicts with sentences of less than 10 years hope for. “At a state prison your life could be in danger. There’s people serving long, long sentences, there are violent offenders,” he said.

Compare that to “Camp Cupcake,” also known as the Federal Prison Camp at Alderson, W.Va., the women-only facility that Martha Stewart, who served five months for perjury in 2004, once called home. FPC Alderson features inmate occupational programs that sound a lot like freshman year electives. Horticulture and cosmetology, anyone? There’s also a historic luxury resort, The Greenbrier, less than an hour away in case your visitors are VIPs too.

On Monday, Giudice, who was convicted of fraud, began her sentence at the Federal Corrections Institute Danbury in southwest Connecticut. It’s the same federal prison that housed “Orange is the New Black” author Piper Kerman and R&B singer Lauryn Hill.

So, sorry to spoil your fantasy of Anthony getting buggered by Bubba & Friends if he drops the soap but there it is.
