Democrats Pick Up Two House Seats in Previously Republican Districts

Democrats have picked up key wins in two traditionally Republican areas, gaining two seats in the House in the process.

The first came in New Hampshire, as Democrat Charlie St. Clair beat Republican Steven Whalley in Belknap County in a special election to replace former Representative Robert Fisher. Fisher resigned from the position because people found out he was active on the Red Pill website, and that he regularly posted misogynist comments there. WMUR reports that St. Clair is known in the community as the organizer of Bike Week, because sure, why not.

The second Dem victory was in Oklahoma, as Jacob Rosecrants won in House District 46, a district with a 3,000 Republican voter advantage. The AP reports that Rosecrants, a schoolteacher, beat Republican businessman Darin Chambers with 60 percent of the vote.

Both of these seats had been previously occupied by representatives from the GOP—the vote in New Hampshire represented a 28-point swing, Oklahoma 31 points. This comes, as Nate Silver points out, during a flurry of bad press for Democrats in elections like these, perhaps proving that there is still some life in the party yet.

Tuesday’s Laconia-Belmont election was the first to be held under the new stricter voting registration and identification requirements outlined in the Republican-backed Senate Bill 3. The new law took effect Friday and is being challenged in court by the League of Women Voters and the New Hampshire Democratic Party.

Judge Charles Temple early Tuesday morning issued a temporary restraining order blocking the penalties in the new law from taking effect but allowing new registration and voting affidavits to be used for those voters who did not present a photo ID or verifiable proof of domicile. See WMUR’s latest report on the controversial law land court ruling here.

So for instance, a couple of masshole former governors like Mitt Romney and Bill Weld could go to NH and vote. Not that I'm recommending voting for Republicans, just saying...

The NH voting process seems prone to fraud.(1 image)

The article is ridiculous.

They don't bother to mention these are not congressional House seats.

They are, in fact, seats in the NH House of Representatives and the OK House of Representatives.

Apparently, these minor facts just don't matter. Dem Victory! Just don't bother to ask what office they won.

The truth is that Dems have yet to win a special election for House or Senate in any held since Trump's election.

Paste Magazine thinks it's another Rolling Stone Magazine. It's Political section reeks of liberal bias.

Their progressiveness was really on display in 2007 when the magazine offered new and current subscribers the ability to pay what they wanted for a one-year subscription. Predictable results.

The magazine bled money and in 2009, the editors "announced a plan to save the magazine, by pleading to its readers, musicians and celebrities for contributions". A year later the print magazine was no more. Online only.

None of which changes the fact that the Trumpkin Republicans in the story, are losers!

The Donald’s coattails are the ash heap of history.

No wonder these brave souls are so cynical about the merits of capitalism. LOL
