Some people really do have too much time on their hands, don't they?

I feel sorry for those poor dogs. They are the ones that did all the work.

I've had a couple border collies. They love doing that.

My current one even herds children if they run away from the group of people they're with. The first time she did it I thought she was attacking the kid, she was snarling and snapping her teeth and whining like a maniac but never touched the kid. Just herded her right back to mom.

One of my earliest memories is of a standard Collie owned by my parents that used to babysit me out in the yard when I was still in diapers. If I crawled towards the sidewalk and the street, she would pick me up by my diapers and take me back to the center of the yard. I now suspect I mostly did it to play with her,and truth to tell, she probably thought it was playing, too. We were both doing what we needed to do.

My other earliest memory was of sitting inside a cardboard box (apparently it was my play pen) on the kitchen floor, and having a big rat run right past me and my father to jump up from the kitchen table and try and stomp him before he got away. Which scared the hell out of me.

I liked the dog memory better,

lol, i'd like the collie memory better too!

This week I'm doggy-sitting a King Doberman. This things weighs at least a hundred pounds. It's huge but luckily he's a big suckhole and does what he's told. If he didn't want to do it there's no way I would try making him. I keep thinking he's going to turn into a killer and rip my throat out.

They are just dogs, and respond like all dogs. Once you are around him a little while you will forget what he is.

I once promised to feed and water two adult dobies and a St.Bernard that belonged to a friend who was going to be out of town for a couple of weeks. The dogs were all in a pen in his back yard, and they all had their own dog houses. All I had to do was stand on a stool to feed their feed trough from the outside, and use a water hose to fill the water trough. The dogs sorta knew me because I had been around, but he didn't allow anyone to pet them or get too friendly because he used them to guard construction sites sometimes.

Anyhow,I had done this for a few days when the two dobies tied up fighting at the food trough. I went in the pen and kicked them apart, and screamed at them and made them go to separate sides of the pen. I was already out of the pen and had the door closed before it even occurred to me that I had just got between two semi-strange adult male doberman guard dogs that were fighting.

Sometimes I'm not very clever.

It takes up most of the bed. I'll just wash all bedding once he's gone. lol

You watch. You will be wanting a dobie of your own once he is gone.

Want to see something interesting? Take him to a remote area or a park where you can let him run a little. Dobies seem so clumsy they might fall over when just walking around, but once they get those long legs moving it all falls into place, and they are graceful beyond belief once they hit their stride.

They really do grow on you.

That's what I'm afraid of.
