A rare visit occurred Monday, and it wasn't the solar eclipse. Instead, it was U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin's visit to the country's gold hoard at Fort Knox. On Twitter, the former Hollywood producer reassured the American people that all the gold - and all $200 billion worth of it -- was still there. "Thanks to @usmint staff for hosting at #FortKnox #USBD. First @USTreasury Secretary to visit since John Snyder in 1948. Glad gold is safe!" Mnuchin tweeted Monday afternoon. He is the third Treasury Secretary to visit the depository with the last visit dating back 69 years. The Fort Knox vault, which was created in 1936 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, is at the centerpiece of many conspiracy theories claiming the vault is empty and doesn't contain any gold. But, the former Hollywood executive turned politician is shutting down those theories. "We have approximately $200 billion of gold at Fort Knox," Mnuchin said as reported by Bloomberg. "The last time anybody went in to see the gold, other than the Fort Knox people, was in 1974 when there was a congressional visit. And the last time it was counted was actually in 1953." At current prices, that would mean there are about 154 million ounces of gold held in the Kentucky depository. Poster Comment:

Then finally allow an independent audit. Allow qualified people to see and count all of it at once. They go to great lengths to avoid letting anyone ever see the entire hoard at once. And it does give rise directly to the rumors that a lot of it is missing or that they have seized and retained the gold deposits of other countries to hide their own gold market manipulations. I'm not remotely impressed by this visit by Steve "Trust me" Mnuchin.
Do you think they move it from room to room so it's always the same bullion (No, not the little cubes you put in hot water to make soup.) visitors are looking at as they're walking through the facility?
That's bouillion, not bullion. Just a homonym. They simply don't allow anyone to ever see all of it at once. Mnuchin is claiming he did. However, if it is all there, what is the secretiveness. It is, after all, very simple to measure, weigh, and account for a physical item like gold. So why do they behave for decades as though they are hiding something? There's no good answer. Unless something is very wrong and they are lying to us.
I personally think they are lying. I suspect that the appropriate number of bars are there. But I suspect they are actually gold plated tungsten. I would suspect TPTB have moved the real gold to their secret bunkers. They most likely would have first moved it to the mints, and took it home in the form of gold US coins, rather than bars.

I've heard people make the case before. And there are some fake tungsten gold bullion shipments that turn up from time to time. So far, none of those were from Fort Knox. It's good to keep in mind how many foreign countries keep their gold here in the States. When a government gets unstable or looks like a "bad regime" may come to power or a country might be invaded or a civil war break out, our ambassadors smoothly talk that government into shipping its gold hoard to America. And they have a hard time ever getting it back. I've never seen any complete accounting for all these foreign gold holdings, where they are, how they're accounted for, etc. A recent example of us seizing a foreign country's gold reserves was Ukraine in 2014. The Latest Heist: US Quietly Snatches the Ukraine’s Gold Reserves Another 33 tons, sent to the New York Federal Reserve, by far the largest and most powerful of the dozen or so Federal Reserve banks. The New York Federal Reserve works hand in glove with the Federal Reserve in D.C., as an equal partner or even as a senior partner in the relationship.
Some more current reporting on Germany getting its gold back from Bank of England, then from France, and now from America. They got the gold from Britain and France but only a handful of tons back from America. Linkway: (variety of German gold stories)
Mnuchin just wanted a free ride for he, and his wife on a $10,000 an hour government jet, so they could watch the eclipse. Mnuchin and Mitch McConnell with his eclipse glasses, at Fort Knox.
