President Donald Trump's approval rating hit a new low on Monday, just two days after he struggled to address the country in the wake of a racist attack at a protest in Charlottesville, Va. Trump faced criticism for initially failing to name white supremacist groups in his statement denouncing the violence. One person died and 19 others were injured after a white supremacist drove a car into a crowd of counter-protesters. According to Gallup's daily tracker of Trump's approval rating, only 34% of Americans approve of the work the president is doing as of Monday. The president has been in office for just over 200 days; this is the lowest his Gallup approval rating has been in that time. Some 61% of voters disapprove — a record high for the poll. The new low comes a little over a week after a poll that showed the president's approval rating had even begun to slip among members of his base. Despite Trump tweeting otherwise last Monday, an August Quinnipiac University poll found that 76% of Republicans approve of the President, down from 84% a month earlier. That same poll found that support for the president had also slipped among whites without a college degree. At the time, White House aide Kellyanne Conway said the numbers showed the president's supporters wanted him to focus. "They are telling him just enact your program ... focus on the agenda," she told ABC News 's This Week. Gallup surveyed 1,500 American adults and its poll has a margin of error of plus-or-minus three percentage points. Trump is immature and trying to please the crowd with the loudest voices instead of supporting the people who elected him. The loudest voices have been on the radical left and the media since before day one. He's helping them foment a violent revolution.

You've forgotten Obama's low daily ratings already? NYC polls indicate that most there agree with Trump that, "racist" whitey is responsible for the ANTIFA violence in Charlottesville. The Giuliani Republicans stand by The Donald's - New York Values! Three clowns on 'special report' (right now) are still claiming that Trump did not denounce the right-wing terrorists enough, on Saturday. Who knew for sure on Saturday that the car driver was one?
The whites had a permit. Antifa did not. Had the cops protected those with a permit to assemble from interference by outside agitators, none of this would have happened. I guess freedom of assembly only applies to certain, acceptable groups. The U.S. Constitution is being shredded before our very eyes because some people can't stand free speech they disagree with.
Governor Terry McAuliff and President Trump declared their permitted rally an "unlawful assembly" before it even started. Their fusion center police goons forced whitey through the gauntlet of leftists to get into the park(s), and then through them again to get out. In effect, they declared whitey a racist with no civil rights, who must STFU! President Trump condemns "KKK, Neo-Nazis and White Supremacists", but not ANTIFA, BLM, NAACP, The New Black Panther Party, or other violent leftists. It appears that for The Donald, white lives don't matter. After years of consorting with the enemy, the idiot's favorability was elevated enormously by his one vote. That's how stupid the American people are.

Trump should have used excerpts from that video in his speech. The people had a permit to be there. Because some of them belonged to groups we don't like is no reason to deprive them of their constitutional rights to freedom of assembly and freedom of speech. Now, if the rules have changed, I'd like to know. Because I would like nothing more than to shut down the hate-filled protests of Antifa and BLM, even if they have a permit.
Agree. Trump should have pointed out the Antifa & BLM part in the rukus. He should also have pointed out that the Gov & Mayor had the police do select / stand down enforcement. I think Trump dropped the ball!

Yep. And he was criticized anyways. It's time to take a stand against those on the left who prohibit free speech through intimidation and violence. THAT'S the real issue, and it's been going on for years.
Yes, Trump needs to learn that he cannot appease that bunch. And, yes it is time, no, it is past time to take a stand. Based on the way he campaigned, I did not expect him to cave like he did. He gained nothing, like you said, and I believe he has pissed off a big block of his supporters. If that is 12 D chess, he lost.
