On July 23rd, at about 4:00 AM, two black males stormed a home near Piedmont, AL. Two white males, a grandfather, and his grandson were beaten and shot to death. A female hid and was not found by the attackers. A Nissan Ultima was stolen and found burned a short distance away. The victims are Joshua Dylan Moody, 23, and Travis Frost, 73. The female victim is Frost’s wife and grandmother of Moody. Police have identified three suspects. Two black males and a black female. Their names are Jeffrey Jamall Briskey, Rhimington Otarivs Johnson, and Sicondria Michala Carter. Briskey and Carter were just captured at an Econo Lodge in Petersburg, VA. Rhimington Otarivs Johnson is still at large. The day after the murders, Calhoun County Sheriff Matthew Wade said: “we don’t think this is just a random act.” However, no more information has been provided. Joshua Dylan Moody The victims had a Confederate flag on their porch. It can be seen in a video taken by WBRC Channel 6. Piedmont is 85% white and only 10% black. The suspects are all from Anniston, AL, which is 52% black. The actual location of the home is in the Rabbittown community, which is about 95% white. No local media outlets have shown pictures of the victims or stated their race. Friends of Frost erected a memorial near his favorite fishing spot. This was also not covered by local media. We believe that if the victims had been black, and the suspects had been white males with a Confederate flag, the same media would treat the double murder much differently.

I hope the victims thought their flag was worth it.
I doubt they expected to pay the price they did, any more then they expected to be killed for having a car colored blue. They flew that flag because it expressed something they believed in, perhaps no more or less then they believed in anything else. If your implication is that no one should fly a Confederate flag because they might get killed for doing so, I'm sure that message will encourage many more southerners to take up the flag as a just cause to risk life for, as a symbol of freedom. The black church that was shot up by the loser who associated himself with the Confederate flag inspired blacks to backlash against the flag, and this event will do the opposite for southern sympathizers. It's a recipe for race war, really. Both the white and black perps in crime were stupid, among other things, as they both have undermined their pet causes.
It is considered provocative. If the local SJW's are running wild, you can hug your Confederate flag all you want but you'll probably top their list of white people they don't like anyway. Just because you have a right to do something doesn't mean it is always safe to do so or that someone might take notice and do something about it, legal or not.

He's not, but I am. I'm more of a "Let justice be done though the heavens fall" kind of guy than a surrender monkey. I do recognize that in the face of overwhelming odds surrender is a tactic to stay alive to fight another day. And in particular, I recognize that capitulation can easily cause a momentarily superior enemy to think you are subdued, causing him to turn his back to face other enemies...at which point you can shove a knife into it. Surrendering is a tactic to survive an overwhelming attack. Nobody ever said anything about STAYING surrendered. I do not believe in playing fair with enemies who attack me. All is fair in love and war, and error has no rights that I am bound to respect. When I get stopped by a cop, justly or unjustly, I always surrender because I don't feel like dying today over something petty. I judge them by how they treat me under that circumstance, which then colors my political support for them, and colors my view as to their honesty and rectitude when, for example, I sit on a jury judging one of them. The funny thing about armed power is that you can't use it all the time. All men must sleep. France has indeed surrendered, twice in her history. In neither case did she STAY surrendered. And in both cases she came back. The American South also surrendered. Knowing when you're beaten is an important survival skill. King Charles, King Louis and Tsar Nicolas didn't know how to recognize when they were beaten, and didn't know how to bend the knee to reality. So they - and most importantly their families - are extinct from the face of the earth. Our grandparents were smarter than they were: we're still here, and the world belongs to the living, not the dead.
You can be a surrender monkey. Just don't be a cheese-eating surrender monkey. : ) And the source of the phrase in popular culture was a writer for The Simpsons, back in 1995. It is now included as a phrase in major English quotes dictionaries.
BTW, I also eat quiche, and like it. So I'm a cheese-eating, quiche eating French person who views surrender as a necessary tactic to keep in the toolbox of possible response to temporally invincible threats, and who views treachery as a legitimate follow-on tactic to reverse the effects of surrender, in a time, place and manner of one's own choosing. If you can't beat them face to face, pretend to submit, pretend to be their friend, and slit their throat when they sleep. Diplomacy is better than war. When war is unavoidable, win. If you can't win, surrender...for now...and stab them in the back later when the circumstances have changed and you can win.
Furthermore, long hair looks better than short on most women AND men, and the only reason to ever wear a hat is to keep your skull from getting crushed in a construction zone or to keep your ears warm in the cold. For the latter purpose, a rabbit fur hat that has flaps that put the fur on your ears and neck is by far the best and most practical hat. There is no hat on earth more useless than the beret. It does not keep your ears warm, it does not protect your head from anything, and it looks goofy.
True. It's fashion. Like a necktie.
There is no article of clothing more useless than the necktie.
