Okay, this is officially getting scary.

If we were in charge of the Secret Service, we’d be sending agents out to have a talk with former CIA Director John Brennan, because some of his recent comments go well beyond threats to the president’s bodily safety and into the realm of insurrection. It’s one thing for some dumb liberal pundit on a blog somewhere to encourage Trump’s cabinet to revolt against him, it’s quite another for the former head of the CIA to do so. These are serious times and his is a serious threat that needs to be investigated. Brennan is not wont to spout off at the mouth, so when he says something seemingly reckless like this, you can bet your bottom dollar that he means to be heard by all the right people in all the right places.

In an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer at the Aspen Security Forum, Brennan was asked what should happen if President Trump were to try to fire special counsel Robert Mueller. Instead of telling the truth – that it is fully within Trump’s privilege to fire the special counsel and that he is arguably justified in doing so, given Mueller’s obvious conflicts of interest – Brennan said that those under Trump should stage a mutiny.

“I think it’s the obligation of some executive branch officials to refuse to carry that out. I would just hope that this is not going to be a partisan issue. That Republicans, Democrats are going to see that the future of this government is at stake and something needs to be done for the good of the future,” Brennan said.

Wow, this guy thinks that a COUP AGAINST THE PRESIDENT should not be a partisan issue? It’s one thing to suggest that Congress should investigate. It’s one thing to suggest that it would be a political mistake for Trump to fire Mueller. Those are defensible, if incorrect, positions to take on the issue. But it’s quite another thing to say that Trump’s firing of Mueller should not BE ALLOWED to take place by way of executive branch revolt. That’s one of the most anti-democratic, unconstitutional things we’ve heard in a long time. In fact, it’s the very kind of extremist rhetoric that inspires left-wing loonies like that guy who shot Steve Scalise to take up arms.

Poster Comment:

Round them up, try them as anti-Constitution conspirators and send them off to Leavenworth. Brennan is strictly anti-America who converted to Islam years ago. He, like all of Obozo's appointments, was dangerous to this Republic!

This is quite overblown and overheated language.

Brennan is an 0bama loyalist and a very weird duck, possibly a crypto-Muslim of some vain homegrown flavor.

Overall, he's doing nothing more than suggesting the threat of a massive wave of resignations in the WH (National Security Council) and even among Cabinet members.

In truth, many presidents have been faced with threats of resignations by executive branch employees and even attorneys general, secretaries of defense and State, etc.

Trump's main problem is that he has done such a poor job of removing all the 0bama holdovers and appointing interim replacements and getting confirmations shoved through the Senate that he is far more vulnerable to such bureaucratic threats by his own subordinates. You do, after all, need someone in those jobs to push buttons and issue particular orders for national defense and for conduct of diplomacy, just to name the most important ones.

Brennan is far from the first to make these kinds of appeals for disloyalty by the WH or the intel community or elsewhere in the federal bureaucracy. And he won't be the last.

“I think it’s the obligation of some executive branch officials to refuse to carry that out."

Please. Step forward. Then we know who to try for treason. And I say hang 'em high on pay-per-view, and put an end to this bullshit.

That's not treason. It's just a fireable offense to refuse orders. At least, this is so in the civilian sector, outside the national security civilian employees.

They refuse, Trump has to put up with it or fire them.

And cabinet secretaries are always free to resign for pretty much any reason.

Obama’s CIA Director Encourages Outright Coup Against Trump

This asshole, and others like him, should have been removed from office two days after Trump was innagurated. Obama & company have succeeded in staffing all layers of government with subversives over an eight year period. They have formed their own powerful unelected background government that continues to rule and destroy this nation.

Brennan was replaced on inauguration day, January 20.

But there are tons of 0bama holdovers still there, six months later.

Trump is to blame for not removing them pronto. He should have known from day 1 that they were always going to leak and cause him big problems. And he is continuing to pay the price for allowing 0bama political operatives to stay in key positions of power.

Sedition laws have been gone for about a century now.

So has hanging. I say bring them both back.

And by "gone" I assume you mean "not enforced"? Well, look at what has happened. We have mayors setting up sanctuary cities. State legislators legalizing marijuana.

I'd say a couple of convictions and hangings would set things right again.

Wiki: Alien & Sedition Acts

Are you sure you want the Sedition Act back?

I guess Trump could just close the failing New York Times if he could use the Sedition Act against them. Telling the truth is no defense under sedition laws. It was typical with these laws that telling the truth about actual government policy or intentions was considered worse than just making something up to accuse them of. Because the truth was considered more damaging than lies.

Of course, it been our enemies, especially totalitarian states, that like laws like the various outdated sedition laws of America and the European states.

Guys like Putin and the Chinese Politburo think sedition laws are terrific.

There was a brief revival of sedition law: Sedition Act of 1918. It was repealed after WW I.

Are you sure you want the Sedition Act back?

Not necessary. Simply enforce the current law -- 18 U.S. Code § 2383 - Rebellion or insurrection or 18 U.S. Code § 2385 - Advocating overthrow of Government

And change the penalty to hanging.

Yes, it is Trumps fault for not removing them on day 1. I do not understand why he allowed that situation to exist, and to fester.

Maybe he thinks " they are good people and have suffered enough " /sarc, LOL
