The attacker ran into an Edeka shop in the northern city of Hamburg before knifing customers and going on the run.
Witnesses followed him and raised the alarm at about 3.10pm before police swooped to make an arrest.
Heavily armed police have locked the area down and an air ambulance helicopter was seen on the road outside. A motive for the knifing has not yet been established.

A major manhunt got underway and 30 minutes later pictures emerged of a suspect covered in blood, with a white bag over his head in a police car.
Armed police have been pictured on the scene having cordoned off the area.
Hamburg police said on Twitter that the motive for the incident in Hamburg’s Barmbek district wasn’t immediately clear.
Germany is on high alert following a series of terror attacks in the country last year.

I'll wager they had to scratch their heads in amazement and were completely confused as to what happened. Merkel doesn't have to worry though. She makes rare public appearances and when she does go out she's surrounded by a troop of armed military.
Americans must get used to seeing mosques here and there, and muslims will be america's new workers, chefs, taxi drivers, judges, airport inspectors, nuclear plants operators, policemen,etc. it's better not to provoke Muslims. And who the hell wants them to assimilate into peaceful neighborhoods?
