Title: Alien Gear Holsters Bashes Police For Shooting Man Who Was Shooting At Them

Alien Gear Holsters made a post to their Facebook page Thursday morning which was critical of the officer-involved shooting of Antoquan Watson, suggesting that officers shouldn’t have shot him so many times.

Antoquan Watson was high on PCP when he opened fire on officers during a vehicle pursuit and then exited his vehicle and started shooting at officers.

In the post to Facebook, Alien Gear Holsters said:

“A reasonable and prudent person follows a police officer’s orders; Angry people sometimes show reluctance, but is it ever okay to shoot someone 45 times?”

After getting hammered with criticism for almost 2 hours from pissed-off customers, Alien Gear Holsters deleted their comment and replaced it with a meme with no further comment, as if they are trying to pretend that their previous comment never happened.

The shooting initially occurred in March 2014 after police received a report that Watson had a gun inside of Pleasantville’s La Esconda II Restaurant, according to NJ.com.

According to a waitress at the restaurant, Watson bought two beers and appeared to be drunk and mumbling to himself. When he paid his bill, multiple people called to report seeing him holding his gun in his right hand, pointing it at the ceiling.

Officers responded and attempted to talk to Watson while he was in his vehicle, but he refused to roll down the window.

Watson then took off in his vehicle, leading police on a high-speed pursuit, running red lights and driving up to 85 MPH. He then started firing shots at officers while he fled.

Finally, another vehicle struck Watson’s car after he ran a red light, causing the vehicle to spin out and stall.

Watson then exited his vehicle and opened fire on officers.

Officers returned fire, and were shocked when he appeared unaffected by the bullets. As you watch the video, officers aren’t missing, Watson is just ignoring the bullets that hit him.

The officers assumed that he was wearing body armor, and it appears that at least one officer may have been shooting for his legs.

Once Watson was on the ground, you can see him still moving while he still had the gun in his hand, and officers continued to fire until he stopped lifting the gun.

An autopsy found that Watson was high on PCP.

There were seven officers involved in the shooting, and they hit Watson 45 times out of 69 total rounds fired between all officers involved in the gunfight. That’s less that one magazine of bullets per officer.

Criticizing officers for repeatedly shooting a man who was actively trying to murder them, while on on PCP and unaffected by bullets, shows a complete lack of knowledge of gunfights. That’s not something we would expect from a holster company.

Considering that Alien Gear Holsters is critical of officers who were defending their lives during a gunfight, and the company’s apparent lack of reasonableness, I can think of better holsters to spend my money on.

Let’s spread the word that we expect better from companies who want our business.

I thought the Chicago cop shooting Laquan McDonald 16 times was a lot.

If it's true that he actually shot at the cop, then as far as I am concerned the cop could have blown him away with a bazooka and it would have been fine.

Once somebody shoots at you, you have the right to kill him dead.

16 shots? Keep shooting until the head explodes - that'll even stop a zombie.

And drug-crazed lunatics wired on PCP and Bathsalts and the other crap that morons put into themselves gives them superhuman strength and endurance. If they come at you, they'll rip your flesh off with their bare hands if they can make contact. So turn them into Swiss cheese and fill them full of lead.

I'm fine with that.

But if the guy wasn't high, didn't have a gun, and some cop goes berserk with unreasonable fear and does the same thing, I want the cop sent to the lethal injection table just like any other bloody murderer.

I actually think I am completely reasonable in everything I've said above - really believe it - really think that way. I can't really imagine that everybody else doesn't think exactly the same thing, in his heart of hearts.

If one of you doesn't, I'd be interested in hearing it, because it would prove to me the extent to which we really do see the world differently.

It's a simple standard: do unto others as you would have them do unto you, and a man will be judged by the standards by which he judged.

So, if some man has judged that it is ok for him to try to take my life, then I am authorized by God to take his life, in whatever way I think is most expedient to protect myself and be SURE that I'm gonna be the one walking away. BUT if my brain is so fear-crazed and addled that I cannot properly judge, and I kill the innocent, then the flipside applies.

In other words, the police are not entitled to special privileges to kill, and have no more right to kill people than anybody else.

The drug-crazed scumbag tried to kill the cop. The cop had the Divine Right to blow him away, and it is good that he did so.

Have to disagree with Alien Gear. Since that clown was an obvious danger to the public, and he opened fire on the officers, he needed to be stopped. Since he was on PCP, that would make it tuff to take him down. That is why he was shot so much.

Knew of a similiar case where some nut on similiar drugs held up a small store. Got stopped on the interstate. Four SP units, and three local city PD units. Perp gets out, still holding pistol. Had a glazed look, did not know where or when he shit last. Everyone hollering for him to drop the gun. His mind was on Mars, then he raised the gun, and he was shot 8 times, with .357 & .38, leg, stomach, shoulder, etc. No heart shot, no head shot. He didn't even flinch. A Trooper ran up behind him, and jerked the pistol out of his hand, then cuffed him. 5 minutes later when the ambulance arrived, he was bleeding like a sieve, but was still standing, staring off into nowhere. I will never forget, the Post Detective Sargent said they should have hit him with a shotgun. Sarge also said if they would have hit him with a .45, it would have put him down. Sarge said he had seen that when he had been in Korea. He said the commies would get their troops hopped up before an attack.

The next pistol I bought was a Colt 1911, with 4 spare mags. When I was at Ft Belvoir, I read the Army's study of the effects of .45 in the Philippines. I thought about that situation, and the old Det Sargent when I read the Army Report.

I laugh when people carry a little .25 auto for personal defense. When you consider how prevalent drug use is, it is foolish to carry some small caliber, or a 1 or 2 shot derringer. Today, if you are attacked, the odds favor that your attacker will be hopped up on something, and will be difficult to stop. Your life, and the life of your loved ones may depend on what you carry, and how well you deploy it !!

I am not one to whitewash cops, but in this case, Alien Gear is wrong. Only criticism I would make, they should have used a shotgun.

If they come at you, they'll rip your flesh off with their bare hands if they can make contact. So turn them into Swiss cheese and fill them full of lead.

This reminds me of an anecdote in one of the popular books by Massad Ayoob, a well-known police armorer and trainer.

He related a story of two cops going up against a PCP freak who had already killed someone. He got one of the cops and then the other cop started shooting him with his handgun as he advanced on the cop. Ayoob pointed out that PCP users can, if their blood is fully oxygenated and they are full of adrenaline, continue to advance and cause harm for 15 seconds after you blow a giant hole in their chest and destroy their heart. Because that's how long blood fully loaded with oxygen will last without a heart/lung combo to keep refreshing it. The second cop did get the PCP user by blowing his heart out of his chest but he was severely injured as well before the PCP maniac finally ran out of oxygen and died. It was a very memorable story.

I think these cops will be in no trouble. If it did ever get to trial, it would be easy to bring experts to tell the jury just how dangerous a healthy PCP user can actually be. Frightening stuff if you ever read the accounts of police trying to stop PCP users on a rampage.

PoliceMag:

The FBI report of an officer-involved shooting on Nov. 29, 2006, from a Pennsylvania police department makes for an interesting read on this topic. The assailant was shot in the chest and abdomen with 180-grain

.40 S&W modern hollow-point ammunition as well as .223 rounds from an M4. On autopsy it was discovered he had been shot 17 times with 11 rounds exiting his body. Despite these many wounds, he struggled with officers attempting to handcuff him before he died.

. . .

The facts are clear; not every bullet entering a body will stop a threat. Major bleeding takes time, and the time to incapacitation is unpredictable unless the brainstem is hit or the heart is destroyed, and even then the person has 10 to 15 seconds of life left. More injuries to more structures gives an improved potential of incapacitation, and when they are accurate shots, the results are more predicted to have the intended outcome.

I'd say the holster company somehow managed to shoot themselves in the foot while stepping on their own dick.

Now their management is sitting around with three fingers deeply buried, trying to figure out how to put out the fire which they started with their smart-ass SJW tweeting and Facebookery.

"I laugh when people carry a little .25 auto for personal defense."

I've read many stories where people get a 1911 or Glock 22 for self-defense, then stop carrying it after a month or two because it's heavy and bulky. I'd rather have a .25 auto on me than a 1911 at home.

But if I was a cop with an external holster, I'd carry the largest gun they let me have along with the nastiest ammo I could find.

"it was discovered he had been shot 17 times with 11 rounds exiting his body."

You really want the rounds to stay in the body for maximum effect. When they pass through, they take most of the energy with them.

Plus, I'd be curious to see if the hollow points expanded. Sometimes they don't if they become clogged with clothing as they enter.

Maybe they're trying to expand their customer base by appealing to people who have no use for their product.

I see your point.

But at home or out & about, if weight is a consideration, I will have access to a 1911, or a G21, OR a G17 or G 19. The absolute minimum I carry is a Mod 36 loaded with silver tips, or Hydra Shoks. At home, I prefer a long arm. Experience & study has firmed my opinion

I don't even own a .25, and would not.

If I felt the need to carry a gun, I'd go get one of those.

Yes, that would most likely have been a 1911, or 1911A1 When the military adopted the .45 auto was issued to all branchess

If you wanted to get one, you would have numerous brands to choose from, with a variety of features, and prices, but all basically the same. You should go to a gun shop or 2, and familiarize yourself with what is available

The one you handled in the Navy ( what years ? ) was most likely well worn. Look around.

Well, the 9mm Beretta M-9was adopted in 1986. You may in fact have handled a 1911, or maybe a M-9. Do a google search for both, or go to a gun shop and look at both. After looking, you should be able to determine which you used. Personally, I would prefer the .45 1911A1, but to each his own. Let me know what you determine .

Looks from the pictures exactly like a 1911A1. They were all black, just like the picture, and had the same shape. Pretty sure that was it. "1911A1" also rings a bell.

At the time you were serving, most, if not all in inventory were horrible worn out, most had been rebuilt a number of times. If you were to try a new model today, you will find them to be much improved, tighter, more accurate, etc.

Like I said, go to a couple of gun shops and look at the number of brands that are available. You will find Colt, Wilson, Les Baer, Sig, Kimber, RIA, Tarus, Ruger, and many others, in a wide variety of prices. Here is a place to start looking https://www.budsgunshop.com

Good luck

Yes, they were definitely reliable, and quite good for combat. But they were not good enough for competition. I liked the ones I used. You will find new models to your liking.

I have heard that CMP is supposed to be acquiring a sizeable number, and will be selling them to the public. You might want to check into that. I may try to get one or two myself.
