Ms Damond, also known as Justine Ruszczyk, was killed in Minneapolis about 11.30pm local time on Saturday after two officers responded to a report of a possible assault. The 40-year-old, who was originally from Sydney, was a trained veterinarian who worked as a spiritual healer and meditation teacher. "We are so sad to report the tragic shooting of Justine Damond," the community's post said. "Justine was one of the most loving people you would ever meet. We can't even imagine LHSC without her." Neighbours and friends are demanding answers as to why the popular woman was shot by police. Minneapolis mayor Betsy Hodges wants to know why the officers' body cameras were off. "I am heartsick and deeply disturbed by what happened," she posted on Facebook. "I have been working on behalf of all of you all night and all day and I will continue to do so. "I share your questions and concerns and continue to seek answers." The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said two Minneapolis police officers responded to a 911 call of a possible assault just north of the 5100 block of Washburn Avenue South. "At one point an officer fired their weapon, fatally striking a woman," it said in a statement. "The officers' body cameras were not turned on at the time and the squad camera did not capture the incident. "Investigators are attempting to determine whether any video of the incident exists." Neighbours are now demanding answers, leaving a sign out asking police "why did you shoot and kill our neighbor and friend?" Source: Twitter Ms Damond's personal website says she trained as a veterinarian and practised yoga and meditation for 17 years. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade says it's providing consular support to the family of an Australian woman killed in the US. A vigil for Ms Damond is planned for 6pm Sunday in Fulton, near the scene of the shooting.

That happens far too often. From the article it says that she ...was shot dead after reporting an alley way assault to police. I'll bet the cops will claim that they "feared for their lives". That line always works as justification for killing an innocent citizen. Wonder if BLM will join the vigil - oh wait. She was white.
You have to turn them on. This is on top of getting info and not getting killed by some pyscho. Not to mention not getting in a wreck while driving there. Maybe the dispatcher needs to remind them to turn on cameras when they are giving out the info on what is going on. They may need to make it mandatory or even automatic switch when leaving the vehicle. Im not sure about the car camera. I know one thing they are sure being quiet about it. Like always I will wait till I hear all or most of the facts to make my mind up.
They didn't turn cameras on purposely. That makes them guilty. Execute them and make an example of them. That way other little piggy's will know to turn on their cameras or they could be put to death.
Well another few years under Obama and you would get what you wanted. A bunch of dead piggies. Read my other post above this one to see where I stand.
I don't want officers harmed. If they Dont turn on their cameras it is because they are corrupt. Or unqualified. A woman is dead and they did it. They could have had evidence but they didn't want any evidence. Or they would have turned their cameras on.
Sometimes people forget. I say make it an automatic switch. Leave the vehicle the camera turns on. Cops have enough other crap to deal with. Cops are like soldiers. 90% boredom and 10% shear terror. Will accept its more 70/30 for cops.
